I am an economist and a PhD student at Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, where I am part of the Professorship for Global Nutrition and Trade under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Thomas Kopp. My doctoral research focuses on the economics of extreme weather events, with particular focus on experiments, trust, and the economics of institutions.
My broader research interests lie in development, environmental, and energy economics. My previous work tackled computable general equilibrium, climate vulnerability and adaptation, household and firm behavior, energy and fuel choice, environmental degradation, and structural economic change. I have published in peer-reviewed journals and presented research at international conferences in economics and related fields.
I hold an MSc in Economics from the University of the Philippines. Before joining Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, I held research, policy, and consultancy appointments across universities, government, and research organizations in the Philippines, including the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, the Development Academy of the Philippines, the Institute for Development and Econometric Analysis, and the Planning and Development Research Foundation.
I have taught undergraduate economics at the University of the Philippines and graduate courses at Ateneo de Manila University. I taught econometrics, mathematical economics, international economics, public economics, and health economics, among others. Alongside my research and teaching, I occasionally serve as a referee for journals in economics, environmental science, and other related disciplines, as well as a resource person for hands-on econometrics workshops using programming software.
