So... Why hire me for Product Experience design?

Empathy

Doctors are trained to empathize, because empathy is vital to communicating with their patients. As a UX designer, I apply these skills, and my knowledge of human psychology in understanding users' needs and aspirations. I ask the right questions to arrive at pictures that most accurately estimate what the users are feeling.

Empathy is vital in designing experiences that are not only usable and useful, but also ones that are enjoyable and equitable.

Team Player

I am not only trained to work in a team, and independently when necessary, I also have a lot of experience working with diverse teams. For instance at the UNLEASH Lab in Singapore, I worked with a culturally diverse team of professionals in different fields to design, prototype, and present a solution for SDG 2 (Zero Hunger). Our team's solution won the Gold medal for our track.

Capacity to work as a team is not only essential in getting work done on time, it is also vital in developing the most innovative and equitable solutions.

Entrepreneurship

My entrepreneurship mindset comes in handy when having conversations around business goals with stakeholders. My experience as an entrepreneur is not only targeted at for profit enterprises, but also for non-profit causes. For instance, during the COVID 19 pandemic, when the lack of personal protective supplies threatened the lives of medical personnel in Nigeria, I raised funds via social media to manufacture 2 Tons of WHO standard hand sanitizers which were then donated to local hospitals, in partnership with the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), to protect local health workers.

Great Communication Skills

Often underrated is a UX designer's capacity to present their ideas to stakeholders. My communication skills stem, not only from my medical training, but also from my experience as an entrepreneur; my regular volunteerism: sharing knowledge with various groups - from mathematics to secondary school students to the weekly UI/UX design classes I offer to aspiring UI/UX designers.

Communication is not only important to get all stakeholders on one page, but also to convert customers and investors.

Climate Conscious

When I observed how the sound of a generator powering a billboard went from moderate to loud and smokey, as the display went from an ad with a dark background to one with a white background, I decided that my preferred background for digital products will always be dark.

But climate conscious design is not only reflected in pixels, it is about minimizing the environmental impact of our processes and user journeys in general.
