Mystery abounds
And hides and seeks
Where the mist hides the beach
Where sight fails
Imagination wails
Calling forth what should be
As one gets closer to truth
Surprise hits home
With both delight and insight
We strut about like peacocks
Before the storm
Our swords and secrets
Slashing at the wind
Kept jewelled feathers hidden within
Education, in a life of loving what is
Wanting to realize the secrets above
Below we dwell in dark holes
Of warm mystery and diaphanous walls
Safe in the bliss
Mother nature’s kiss
Billowing clouds mark the change
Blue sky beach is rearranged
Stormy waves make their way in
Love is still beautiful
Compassion a light in darkness within
Helping us stay strong through emotional weather
Leaving the Nest
The vortex
The comforting rest
Escaping entropy
The second law doesn’t apply to me
To The road I confide
In the wayside
At the park n’ ride
Quite alone back at the old “home”
So might as well roam
Squeeze my souls
And haunts of old
Do raise a toast
To what we love most
Making art from
Coast to coast
And wriggling my toes
In warm sand and thick snows
Across the US
Canada east to west
Down to Mexico I must go
All the way to Patagonia?
Landing where?
Doing what?
Noting notes
Carrying totes
Casting votes
Imagining hopes
Attention feeds intention
Behind the hum of the engine
In my dream to be free
In this time of uncertainty
Teaching, learning
Moving, burning
Sitting silently
watching the grass grow
Electric Coconuts
Beach breezes stir coco fronds
Their sound is electric
And rightly so
For everything has electrons
And sound can only mimic
The underlying form of these particles
Not too far away, rotting flotsam of both man and animal
Reminds bathers of lands end
Of our own impending demise
The tide plays
With lurching waves
And sunbathers move their stations
In slow rhythms that only ravens and eagles see from above
Orchestrating their day
And punctuating with crescendos
The floods of sunset beachcombers
The scents of the sea and sand
Invites the taste of slow breezes
The descending light draws both humans, dogs and cows to shoreline
A respite from heated roadways
So much information waiting for patient tourists like me
Yet information isn’t knowledge isn’t wisdom
That only comes with time and the willingness to connect dots and to be surprised
Hopeful that others who hold desires to connect the world
Take the time to visit beaches and play ukuleles to curious locals
Hopeful that the somatic posturing of consumerism
Doesn’t atrophy empathy or communication
And no one is settled too tightly to their stations
That incoming waves rip away their bags and flip flops
Only to leave them with a long walk in their skivvies, uncertain of societies’ offerings
Outrageous, the sounds of murder
Outrageous, the sounds of murder
In the fields at night
Dogs howl
No one flinches
An owl shifts in flight
Creature comforts that drain spark
Are often forgotten
Then Unexpected peace
When the wind sifts through tall grass
Never silent, but still churning
In the underbrush
Across the glade, do you ever fully cease?
Laughing water condensed at a distance
Still cleansing involuntarily
Witness Polarity jumping about through forces
As cold air cracks the sleeper awake
Testify if moved, move if not
in it’s sudden embrace and it’s fall from great heights
Air quickens this journey
As stone stares back at the sky Still, defiant of coming rain and warm from the day
Warm plasma returns it’s mineral wealth to the earth
And still no one flinches
Set in perfect heaven or hell, ending or beginnings, near or far,
Travellers know all these things in time but choose at every crossroad until unwitting destiny
Never waiting, always seeking involuntarily the end downstream with water inside and beside us
And air rushing around
This soothes and comforts knowing all share one fate and then knowing why we burn brightly seeing beauty and want, for shadows grip the unknown secrets of time immemorial and your face can illuminate the path ahead
Friday Birds
We come and go
And let flow
With the waves at our toes
Sizzling swirling sand and sea
Can take all my cares away from me
How to get back here to the flow
With stillness in motion
It’s all that we know
Now is the moment
With warm air lifting
The cool shade welcomes our
Hot skin blistering
Yet, still in the moment
Like the birds pecking sand
Dabbing their beaks for food on demand
With no notice beyond what can snatch them up
Immediate surroundings survival
All they survey
But thinking of their next meal
And where they should next stray
Pockets full of change
Casting spells to empty wells
Begging for a drop of life
I’ve dropped all pursuits
To peer briefly into the light
Focused laser attention swells
Wide-casting nets for insight
Hollowing out spaces within
For little bits of wisdom again
No net gain or appreciation
Parts of body feel dumb and in detention
Plastic thoughts thrown and strewn about
Litter of the empty streets
After the massacre of ideas
Confetti shredded never dropped
Ticker-tape all wrapped up in fears
Prefer to just imagine the parade
What could be with no real action
Ghostly floats and marching bands
Greyed out wistful apparitions
No sweat or staccato on pavement
No real Cotton Candy
Applause is out for the count
Bruised by the vocal minority
And no longer sought or mentioned
As reward or recognition
Adopting trends no longer in fashion
Function over form here
Banishing apocalyptic cyphers
To sit in the back of my brain bus
Filling their former seats with hopeful prayers
Neural trees shrinking
Shouts drowning drivel and rowdy bears with togas
Bullies with MAGA megaphones and misunderstandings march in protest
Where are all the Popup blockers,
synaptic talkers, selling upstream
Virus detection schemes
Contentment purposefully ported over
For novel, yet fleeting and deteriorated pills to swallow
Until I stand up on my feet again
With pockets full of change
The Moment
So excited within
I could jump out of my skin
With a Cheshire grin
This isn’t starting over
It’s a new direction
One that was beneath my detection
But that is stimulating my connections
And synthesizing acoustic waves
Into real and important ways
Chaos
Earthquakes come when least expected
Shifting sands roil beneath our feet
Usually moving too fast to notice
Then a major shift of hold-release
If blessings come from positive thoughts
Do you see the light through the cracks?
If we can make lemonade from lemons
Do you know the recipe from scratch?
A rolling stone gathers no moss
It’s always adding layers of gloss
and shedding it’s rough edges
All chairs rearrange when finding where the edge is
Pressure is the catalyst
Stress the engine
Subsistence for workers
An endless resistance
One door shuts, ten more open
Which one to walk through today?
Forks in road after forks in road
Find us all on our unique way
While I don’t know what is in store
What is waiting on the other side of change
I can only hope, for without hope, we’re doomed to repeat yet again
And have already lost our way
Positive reflections in change of directions come when we least envision
Shaken to the core,
know I need more
and am capable like chameleons
To know I am loved and can love In return is what often holds my insides in
Beyond right or wrong in a field of fruition
Working for love and not money as convenience
For what we believe in
What we desire and choose
In the heart flames of spiral lightning fire
No land shift or sea change can ever dismay
Even when it kills me some more
The next page,
the next book, the next “final cut” to not end on the cutting floor
To not repeat failure evermore
The glossed-over chapter, a return of tomorrow
Where history rhymes not repeats
So many moments for inner reflection coming
So much time to taste so sweet
To find what the yogis call peace
So much time to wander directions
Will it be
With someone like me, who likes to go wide but rarely too deep?
For attachment leads to suffering
And transitions are only buffering
Someone translate this questioning
The song underneath always soothing
With someone like me
who avoids feeling pain
And helps others to do the same
Earthschool and Earthquakes will teach you to deepen,
to take moments to feel in
Never loosing the lesson
Flipping the switch
Preparing the purpose
Finding a balance on sticks
Help me to feel just a little bit more with your geometric perception
Thrown down for good fortunes
And the best of intentions
As opportunity meets preparations
I don’t pretend to know what is best for others and for me I only guess
Education is key and knowing half the battle
But logic can’t solve every problem ahead
The heart space rises to meet in the middle
In stillness after quakes, floods and trials
In motion, always moving, never slowing,
the sun always seems to rise, somewhere in the spiral and
pulsing rhythm of our body
We realize
Heartbeat
Breathe deep
Keeping me
Hanging on
Slow tick
Love sick
Baby trip
Soon free
Hang tight
Moonlight
Time short
Short breath
Breath hot
Hot trot
Escapes
Cool dip
Long walk
Sweetgrass
There and back
Redwoods
Barn doors
Hawk wing
Birds sing
Lockjaw
Rusty nail
Southpaw
Check’s in the mail
Redwood
High beams
Sapling
Day dreams
Slam dunk
Dumpster funk
Booty trunk
Drank crunk
Shades of Blue
Scents of spice
Summer nights
Hearts alight
Deep breath
Hugs best
Can’t see
to be or
Not to be?
Days pass
Feeling lasts
Memories fade
Stories Change
Questioning
Bending knee
Bowing down
Touch the ground
Dry creek
Tree clear
UFO’s
Summer Breeze
Ready for
Long ride
Far away
Deep inside
Bombay
Lovers on the side of the busy road
Stealing kisses where they can’t be told no
Friendly people in the heat
Others searching for where to sleep
Shanty towns and skyscrapers
Fancy hotels and heartbreakers
Modern museums with stunning art
Historical venues, placid parks
Dogs and humans, rats and cats
All fed for the night next to bamboo racks
Old forts, new hotels
Ancient temples and church bells
Clock tower strikes
Crows fly like kites
In crowded halls no private space
On busy ferries, curiosity reigns
Some don’t see past their own agenda
Trying to survive, pandemic vendors
Opening up after shutting down
Life goes on with a sadder song
Hope in childrens’ eyes so bright
Family religion shows them light
To break away means casting off
To chart a course where all is lost
Only to be found anew
The world is fresh and exciting too
The old mumble, eat and sleep
The young can’t wait to meet
Like lovers on the side of the road
Kissing where they can’t be told no
This Little Heart of Mine
I still feel
I am alive
Am older now
Little wise
Feeling out
Lost and found
Once was tone
Now profound
Something stirring
Deep inside
Bump against it
Cannot hide
Solitude is nice
From time to time
I miss the reflection
The bodies unwind
Now I am centered
The threshold remains
To cross over
To joyful refrains
To a life of love
A positive force
No turning back
From eventual course
I’ve done the ground work
Now a new leaf
Turning over brings relief
What I think
I know about love
It’s a two way street
Mutual evolve
Lyrics
Behold The Edge
No More Pure Red White Or Blue
Just Whats good for me and you
All The Colors into one
and i wonder when we'll all become the sum
Of the parts we're living in
can you see a new beginning?
You were surrendered to the cause
Don’t trust don't change don't ever pause
it was so easy to see yourself with them
as One of many who wanted more than they give
Can you see a new beginning?
There's no more pure red white or blue
Just whats good for me and you
there was something more left to learn
Don't identify it always burns
We had to keep dancing until the dawn
To keep on moving with these songs
But i wonder in the cold
Did i dive deep enough to berhold?
Well you hope for something more
as you walk out the door
All the colors into one
Beautiful Skin Just like the sun
With Little hairs standing one by one
I'll meet you there we'll have some fun
No more pure red white or blue
Just what’s good for me and you
All the colors into one
And I wonder when we’ll all become the sum
Of the parts we’re living in
Can you see a new beginning?
Whenever You Roam
Well you carry these songs
No matter where you are’ you can’t go wrong you travelled this far
Break out a map to see where we are and where we’re going to
There’s really one thing left to do
To find the love inside of you
Cuz you’re never you alone
Whenever you roam
When your heart is your home
You’re never alone whenever you roam
All these people and places you keep
They hold the light that’s underneath
And the light of a thousand stars lights our way home
I’ve been out on that highway in the dead of night
A rain coming down cannot see the light
But in the darkness, there’s a gentle glow of a city
In the distance
When the fog lifts
Reminding me I am not alone in this abyss
From inside our hearts, electric sparks
Lighting the way home
You stoke the flame of the fire
You let is burn ever higher
But in the valley it grows cold
So you go south as was foretold
Like a graceful snowbird
We’ll light the way home
It Is What You Make It (Sometimes)
Take it for what this is
In this moment when the music hits
You have it all now
Just for you
But like anything, It’s what you make it
It’s what you make, It’s up to you, up to you
The pen, the sword, an almighty lord
I don’t know in this instant
“Here I am, Atman”
I am cool, calm, collected
Chillin’, breathin’, thinkin’
Where’s my people, Where you been?
As we head out into this distance
Into this instance
They taught us how to speak
And this guides us all
I think we can agree
Our body’s a temple
We so often ignore
I might do it right now, if you had a little more
Symbiotic journey, that keeps us afloat
It gets you to vote
But waking up means different things to different folks
In different places, with different faces
Here you are now, walking by
In your lifetime, in your meanwhile
Or your Nirvana, your samsara
Are you now like Harry Houdini, Or a prisoner who never escapes
Learning to conform the system
In so deep
Your time and energy combine
Yet wages are stolen for investors
This rock we stand upon, each and everyone
Well there’s no difference
Climb upon your hands stretched out
Working for your subsistence
Now you see what it means what it means to truly be free
Your need your healthy energy ->
Playa Song
Sitting down and looking out
Things are clear, without doubt
The dust is settling down
It falls so softly to the ground
There’s beauty in that grain of dust
There’s so much more in each of us
If we ever find our way
We might know with what we do today
Where I’m free to roam
This place that I call home
There’s magic uncompressing here
We stay strong year to year
Sometimes things get confusing
But I was told to keep on moving
We made it back from the unknown
looked past the fear that others know
I haven’t moved much physically
but in tother realms I’ve crossed a sea
I must let go of all the things that have
twisted up and bound my dreams
If I let this seep into my spirit
Will I be in time to hear it?
The world might think we’ve let her go
Will there be a time that she will know?
We only live here for a while
So I get up and walk a mile
I’m not going to waste this precious day
thinking of great things to say
All of the elements are in their place
Freedom In Our Speech
How did I get here?
How did I wake with the sun shining on my face?
Where am I going
What just happened?
Well, I’m breathing
I am
Throwing stones into the ocean
One by one right over again
Woke up feeling fine
But how did I get here this time?
I’m still figuring it out
Wasn’t sure where I landed
Throwing stones at glass ceilings
I’m breathing
At least it’s something
They gave us when we got here
Oh, they left
Now not sure if breathing’s ok
At least there’s true freedom in our speech
It’s never out of reach
How did we get here this time?
Woke up feeling fine, never out of line
And we’re still figuring it out, we’re still figuring it out
(Just not sure where we landed)
I woke up feeling fine
Wasn’t like the last time
With Mother Nature carrying me for a while
Each one of us from her womb
None to soon, like a soul in bloom
Learning to manifest this consciousness
Find our niche
I’m breathing
At least I’m singing
At least I feel
As I’m figuring it out
Wasn’t sure where I landed
Throwing stone into the ocean trying to build a bridge
At least there’s freedom in our speech
It’s never out of reach
I am
I’m breathing
Stewardship
We walk many paths in our lives
And I see the sunshine in your eyes
And we may run from that storm in the sky
But we’re safe now as we watch it go by
And It’s alright to let yourself breathe again
And it’s alright if you’ve got to believe in something
Or anything at all
We walk many paths in our lives
And you and mea we’re one for all time
And there is no separating from within
And you me got to get through the pain
And it’s alright to let yourself breathe again
And it’s alright if you’ve got to believe in something before you fall
We walk many paths in our lives
It’s alright yeah yeah yeah
Anything, anything at all
We walk many paths in our lives
And you and me, we’re one, I can see it in your eyes
Oh, the light, it shines
In the kindness of your ways
Cuts right through the haze
Lifts me up for days
This I want to say
It’s alright, it’s alright
We walk many paths in our lives
And you and me we are one for all time
