The scholarly work below is a glimpse into my journey while majoring in Technical Communications at Arizona State University.
Information, Technology, and Culture STEM Analysis
Women have always strived for equality in different areas, but this paper researches the setbacks and victories of women in the STEM field.
This analysis explains the past and the present involvement of women, especially those of color, in Engineering. From the U.S. Military Academy to now, things have changed tremendously and 50% of STEM careers are occupied by women.
This artifact is very near and dear to my heart because my sister is an International Senior Engineer for General Electic. Along with my credible sources I also have personal insight after interviewing her about her experiences while climbing the ladder.
Audience Persona
When creating content the user experience is what takes precedence. To ensure that their experience is enjoyable, a targeted audience must be identifiable and explain why it is appealing to them.
This persona was created as an example to draw in volunteers for Wounded Warriors. The goal was to peak the interest of all people from different walks of life. It considers ethnicities, disabilities, preferences, socioeconomics, and marital status. Personas like this example will allow me to create works to focus on the user's experience and ensure that they are pleased.
Critical Writing
Websites are designed every day with the hopes of making them as user-friendly as possible and on many sites, they have mastered this art. So well to the point where it suppresses the user's subconscious. When scrolling on your device you rarely think about the credibility of the website, unless something sparks your attention.
Within many rural or underserved communities, the threat of misinformation can be the difference between life and death. This research will show how misinformation has damaged our cultural norms, our political beliefs, and in some cases leads to the death of thousands.
Usability of a Website
A website designer can become so invested in creating their own work, that they forget to test the functionality to ensure that it meets their expectations. Without any prior dealings with a website, users should be able to have a mild concept and understand the mission within seconds.
This usability test was for the Pickens County, S.C. branch of the NAACP. Due to COVID, the organization is unable to meet in person and the branch president wanted to see if the reason behind new memberships declining was due to their website.
Digital Information
In order to develop groundbreaking and breathtaking technology, it is first important to have a good understanding of how much our resources have changed. In the 1970s, a major cellular company came up with the great idea of using a card catalog. This research platform was a game-changer but yet never successful.
This essay's research will display the lost opportunities to make and serve a new group of users of a technological invention.
UX Design of a Mobile Application
The art of developing a strong and robust application is not to develop a "one size fits all" platform. It is easy for a person who is out of touch with the most up-to-date technology to fall below the waist side. The goal is to cater to all aspects of your targeted audience by ensuring that it is appealing, but yet user-friendly.
This journey map is about my personal experience with a medical app that I use on a daily basis. It expresses the interactions, pros, cons, and touch points along the journey.
