(Erasmus+ KA1 2020 - 2022)
(Erasmus+ KA1 2020 - 2022)
With this project the BG/BRG Judenburg, an academic high school for students aged 10 -18, reacts to the latest changes in the Austrian educational system and to school internal changes at the BG/BRG Judenburg. The administration of the BG/BRG Judenburg initiated this two year project in order to offer its teachers further high quality international training in the fields of communication, teambuilding and leadership. Within the two years' lifetime of this project 15 teachers/employees will have the opportunity to participate in several training courses and job-shadowing sessions based on teaching and communication techniques as well as teambuilding and leaderhip skills.
All trainings will be focused on three main areas:
1.) TEAMBUILDING
2.) LEADERSHIP
3.) COMMUNICATION
In these courses teachers acquire methods, techniques and didactic material for activities that are adaptable for a wide range of lower and higher grade students and for different teaching situations. But not only the acquisition of new communication methods, leading techniques and skills play an important role. It is also the exchange of experiences and the reflection on teaching behavior between teachers of different European countries that will bring the participation in this courses along.
After the trainings teachers will inform other teachers in internal school meetings about the contents of the courses and pass on material an information about the course. Futhermore, gained methodological and didactic knowledge will also be passed on to other language teachers in order to provide them with new input and ideas of how to teach.
This project will lead to:
- an enormous improvement of staff competences in the field of communication, teambuilding and leadership
- an exploration and introduction of new curriculum relevant teaching aspects and authentic topics in class
- a teachers' reflection on the organization of teaching and cooperation with other teachers guided by experts
- an implementation of modern communication methods and leading and teambuilding techniques in class and in cooperation with colleagues
- widen teachers' social and cultural horizions and their intercultural skills, which will have an impact on their teaching performance in Austria
- widen teachers professional and methodological horizons in order to offer students, parents and all other educational stakeholders with optimal
communication, teambuiliding and leadership structures at the BG/BRG Judenburg
During the last decade the organisation has been very active in the field on international mobility and cooperation. It participated in two Comenius projects and subsequently coordinated three Eramsus+ KA2 students' exchange projects. The current E+ KA2 students' exchange project is in cooperation with with SP/DK/PL. Additionally the BG/BRG Judenburg has successfully organised one E+ KA1 teachers' mobility project with an amount of 11 mobilities and is currently coordinationg another E+ KA1 project on CLIL teaching methods.
The BG/BRG Judenburg is a certified UNESCO school and regularly carries out international projects according to the UNESCO charters. Since 2000 the BG/BRG Judenburg has also been a regular conference participant at the ecological Caretakers of the Environment International Conference which has been taken place in different countries all over the world. In July 2018 the BG/BRG Judenburg had the honour to host this conference in Judenburg with approx. 250 delegates from all over the world (e.g. Turkey, USA, Russia, Indonesia, Mexico, Europe). This year the school planned to participate with 5 students and 2 teachers in this youth conference in Indonesia on the topic "sustainability". Due to the Corona crisis the conference was posponed to 2021.
In higher grades the BG/BRG Judenburg also offers students language courses in Galway/Ireland, Nice/France, Rome/Italy, Barcelona/Spain and ecological courses in Rovinj/Croatia. Furthermore the BG/BRG Judenburg also cooperates with the Styrian Board of education. Within this cooperation two students could take part in a student's exchange programme with French students.
Finally the BG/BRG Judenburg also supports teachers to join further education courses within the framework of eTwinning. Thus, approx. 10 teachers participated in further education courses in Brussels and Madrid. As a result of one of these course, a Spanish teacher was invited by another course participant to join an eTwinning project involving students, which was launched in 2019. In cooperation with the Styrian Board of Education the BG/BRG Judenburg has also cooperated in a students' exchange programme with students from France. Three Austrian students were sent to the south of France. In this context the BG/BRG Judenburg has also applied for a further training programme for French teachers and admininistration staff for the year 2020.
