Our Purpose

AS FOUND IN OUR BY-LAWS, OUR PURPOSE IS:

To prevent the hunger of persons located in the Boothbay Region, which is defined as the towns of Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, and Southport, by operating a food pantry where all clients are treated with dignity, respect, and courtesy, and where all clients are allowed a choice in what food items they receive...To provide services to those who are hungry or in need without charging any fee or requiring the payment of any expense.

The Food pantry provides a multiple-day supply of food with quantities varying by size of family. Non-perishable items are obtained largely by donations and church appeals, with generous contributions made by Hannaford Super Markets, local schools, the "Y", and other local organizations. In season we now receive significant quantities of wonderful fresh produce from Veggies to Table and Twin Village Food Bank Farm.
