April 2026
What's Blooming in Brassfield....
April is full of energy, connection and opportunities to celebrate our school community.
One of our favorite traditions returns...Super Kids Day! Students rotate through fun field day stations led by amazing parent volunteers. Don't miss out on the smiles, see our volunteer sign up below. Continuing the fun and support, join us at our Family Dance committee meeting in person or virtual and help us support the Northeast Wake Backpack Buddies program with our Spring Food Drive at the end of the month.
This month, we will also take time to recognize our front office administration staff and our bus drivers during their respective Appreciation Days.
At the same time, this is a critical moment for public education in North Carolina. NC is headed towards a fiscal cliff: Here is a brief video from the WCPSS Board meeting on 3/17 that you can review and share. (More details are available from the Public Schools First website: NC School Districts Start Budget Season with Worry and Uncertainty.)
This crisis has been building for years, and it will be a long road to change the course for our public schools.
You will find advocacy information and calls to action to help keep you informed and engaged. PTAs, educators, and families across our community are working together to ensure our voices are heard.
I encourage you to lean in where you can: Ask questions, stay informed and show up when possible. Every bit of involvement matters as we advocate for the future of our schools.
Thank you for being part of what makes Brassfield such a strong and caring community. There's so much blooming, and it's because of you.
Please email BrassfieldESPTA@gmail.com with any questions, comments, concerns or ideas!

Here is the link to the Public Schools First letter template to email the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) budget committee. You can send the letter as is or personalize it using points that are meaningful to you and hit send. It will be distributed to the Conferees for SB 257 – the committee that is negotiating the final budget.
Here is the link to the Public Schools First letter template to advocate for reform of the school voucher program - a program that allows our tax dollars to fund private school education to those who do not have financial hardship and to schools that are not accountable to the public and not required to follow the same safety, academic, and non-discrimination guidelines as public schools.
The Brassy Bear Community Fund brings our Brassfield community together to support families experiencing temporary hardships.
In collaboration with school administration, our social worker, counselors and the PTA Board, donated funds are directed with care and discretion to provide essential assistance - because Brassy Bears take care of one another.
