Harbor SEALs stands for Sea, Estuary, Air, and Land. We're a student-led science civics program. Our purpose is to monitor the health of the Hudson-Raritan Estuary, educate the public and create condition to bring back the harbor seal. I'm the senior mentor for Marine Debris Recovery, my job is to collect debris over the fence using proper gear and guide my underclassmen to do the same. I also am the project manger which means leading up to 25+ students to do their role and planning ahead on what needs to get done for every meeting.
Doing water quality testing runs early in the morning which is brought into one our lab to have a 2-day process. Worked from home or in person, working on a project with my mentor or my individual project. Going out to oyster sample, fish sampling, cleaning up beaches, tabling to spread the word about B.O.P, being featured on the news or article, and painting a display and container. Complied what we did for the 6 weeks into a slideshow which was presented to all the other B.O.P interns.
Worked with people from the same CTE and came up with scientific question, background research, hypothesis, created a procedure for the plan and materials needed, executed the plan, analyzed samples, digitized date, then created our presentation.
As a way to build the community the New York Harbor School has a week-long summer orientation event for incoming students. I interacted with incoming freshmen for a week. Did activities with them in order to know about the school and make friends. I took a lot of pictures and composed a slideshow. (view here)
The only picture I found where I wasn't taking pictures.
Working with colleagues as the same field as me, marine biology, we composed a scientific questioned that we answered. Did background research's upon or question, made a procedure plan,
