I am an Assistant Professor in Applied Economics at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). I am accredited by AQU Catalunya for Professorat Agregat (Associate Professor level) in Social Sciences and have received positive evaluations for two six-year research periods (sexenio-equivalent) from AQU Catalunya, covering 2009–2014 and 2015–2020.

My main research experience and interests lie in socioeconomic determinants of health, particularly as they relate to behavioral health economics, health service delivery, health inequalities, and the evaluation of public health programs and policies. I seek to generate policy-relevant evidence on how socioeconomic conditions, health service delivery, and public policies shape health inequalities and population health, with growing work in the economic evaluation of health and social interventions, including cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analysis.

At URV, I am affiliated with the Research Center on Economics and Sustainability (ECO-SOS).

Before joining URV, I was a Maria Zambrano Postdoctoral Research Fellow within the University of Girona's Economics Department, where I continue to collaborate as a member of the Research Group on Statistics, Econometrics, and Health (GRECS). 

Before moving to Spain, I spent ~15 years conducting and leading applied research in the United States aimed at informing health policy and program decisions. This included serving as Chief Research Analyst in the Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, where I oversaw research and evaluation activities supporting several federally funded, multi-million-dollar chronic disease prevention initiatives.

I currently serve as an Associate Editor for Public Health Nutrition (Cambridge University Press), with editorial interests in behavioral and policy-relevant health economics, socioeconomic determinants of health and health inequalities, food insecurity, and the evaluation and governance of public health and nutrition policies.

Overall, I am passionate about conducting translational research that informs policy and practice and advances health equity across diverse communities.
