"The Weight of Grace"
One of my favorite pieces. She is inspired from the Virgin Mary, especially the ornate statues in Spain. Our Lady of Sorrows.
She also represents the female experience.
"Curiosity"
I loved how this subject turned out. Vibrant still life of a frog on his flower as he stares right at the viewer.
"Solitude"
I'm intrigued by abandoned and liminal spaces and this painting was inspired by the atmosphere of that.
"The Last Carriage"
This is the first of the set of five paintings created to be on display at the Horizon Center. I chose to go with various Victorian motifs. The first of course is a horse drawn carriage. With a reminiscent atmosphere, you get to choose if it strikes you fondly or eerily.
"Thirst"
The second of the set pays homage to 19th century vampirism and what it symbolizes. It represents haunting longing and the unknown.
"Consecration"
The third piece shows direct vampirism. But it is also a representation of intimacy and trust. As well as the unknown. To succumb to a feeling.
"The Soft Reign"
An intimate Victorian era semi-impressionism portrait of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in their private quarters. This very influential couple represented much of the romanticism of this time. I wanted to paint them as human and not so historically grandiose.
"Cold yet Colder"
The last is a winter cemetery landscape. Simple and monochrome, it is immersive still.
No matter how cold it is above, those below will remain colder still.
