Hello hello! And thank you for stopping by my site:)
My name is Bree Giles. I have been an artist my whole life. I have a unique style all to my own and I enjoy creating as much as possible. There is always some passion behind everything I make and I hope you gravitate towards my art and all my little creations. I prefer to handmake everything. All of my frames are made by me with hand tools as well. I like traditional methods of art. I am typically a painter. And I just adore Victorian inspiration. My commissions are ALWAYS open and I'd love to make something for you! Please feel free to check out my Commissions, Gallery Work, Prints for Sale and Contact pages at the top. Below are some of my other creations of passion <3
Some of you may remember me and my partner from the Old East Washington Street Festival last year. It was my first time attending and I will be back this year!
The Seismic Wand is my partner's favorite weapon from RuneScape. No models of it exists anywhere besides in game. Over the course of the week before their birthday I built the structure, including lighting with seven different modes, invisible suspended parts, as well as the whole glass and wood cabinet for displaying. I worked on it tirelessly through the week and had it done just in time to surprise them with the gift. It's been a few years and it's still going strong!
Mediums: The wand itself is built structurally from mainly cardboard that I hot-glued together. Then in between is clear vinyl which didn't take well to the glue and had to be sewn with invisible thread by hand (it is very difficult to hand sew through vinyl). I ran a string of lights throughout the whole thing. The battery pack is recessed into the back of the base at the bottom as to not be noticeable. I bought silver wire to hold the suspended sides of cardboard as well as the clear shards at the top. To make the lighting glow the clear parts are filled with cotton balls I dyed with acrylic paint in various color ways then mixed together as I assembled the piece. The cardboard structure is also painted with acrylic as well as the back inside of the cabinet. Chains and hooks were used to secure it. Custom made glass was cut to fit the front. And a box latch and hinges attached to secure it shut. The rest is 2x4s, plywood and trim which as handsawed to fit as well. It was 100% custom:)

The gift before this was the Chaos Elemental
Also from RuneScape, this boss was the first major thing he asked me to paint for him. It's one of the largest paintings I've done in general and one of the most detailed, photos don't do it justice. It has since been framed and below I will show the process.
This is the alien lucky cat I made or maneki neko.
My take on the Japanese tradition.
This is an entire outfit I made out of realistic faux eyeballs. I used many colors to give it more variety. It has green, blue, and brown. I made a beret, crop tee, and skirt. I wanted the outfit to be able to be worn as a whole or separated for other looks. The alien backpack I already owned and thought it added to the photos. I used e6000 to glue these on as the plastic eyes couldn't be sewn and no other types of glue can bond stretchy fabrics to plastic. I also added a few to bobby pins to include 'eyes in the back of my head'. As well as doing my makeup for a more futuristic look.
Halloween is my favorite holiday so you know I have fun carving pumpkins. This is the first one I went for years ago. This one you may find bizarre. It features Dio from jjba. My only regret is not taking a risk to carve out the star on his back. But not bad for a day's work. It still had me wryyyyy'd tho lol.
This one was a quick and simple Vegeta from DBZ
One year for Mabon back in 2023, my partner and I did a pumpkin carving picnic. It was just a leisurely thing and not meant to be artistic. He tends to dislike being physically creative in the way of art and things but I think his jack o' lantern far surpassed mine. I think the moon eyes and bat mouth was an imaginative take on his part. I also made a jack o' lantern pumpkin pie for the outing.
For Christmas one year I made ornaments that were the dragon balls from DBZ. The next year I added to it by making the Namekian dragon balls as well. I put Shenron as a tree topper. I had lots of other decor but didn't end up taking many photos. If anyone would like their own set sometime I'd be happy to make these again sometime:)
This piece is actually a thrift flip I made years ago as decor for my partner's space. I like aliens and when I seen this mid century deer in a thrift shop, it's eyes reminded me of an alien. I was inspired to paint it as such. I don't current have the before pictures but the old tutorial is up on my Youtube. I went with various greens and silver metallic on the antlers. One of the small deer was broken when we went back to get this so I adapted it. After painting the cermaic it was matte which I disliked and didn't seem durable. So I sprayed a few layers of clear coat over the acrylic paint.
This is an older project. Still a gift I made for my partner (there's a theme here lol). I drew, painted, and cut out the various butterflies out of paper. I curved the wings to give it dimension and look more realistic. Butterflies are aesthetic in general and I chose them also because my partner's mother liked butterflies before she passed. I wanted to make it look like a faux taxidermy butterfly display case. I painted the background a dark green. The structure is made from cardboard, I put a glass and frame on the front and used the stand from it in the back to hold it up. Inside I made an extra layer and spaced out holes to hold his various earrings. I also made small envelopes and gifted him some pairs with the case as well. I've made a few of these for commissions as well and may make smaller or various versions for the festival this year but who knows.
I'm not much of a seamstress though I've made a few things. My first large project was these succulent cushion pillows. The darker one has a higher leaf count and looks the best. The other I made a day when my partner was at work. We still use these. The squid is Ulu, a gift he gave me our first Valentine's Day.
The old video of how I made it is here ⬇️
My partner also likes H.P Lovecraft and Cthulhu. For his book The Call of Cthulhu I made a custom tentacle bookmark that looked like it came out from the story and wrapped around the pages. I drew and painted this on paper then laminated it with postal tape. Simple right?
Any Loki lovers? I
I used to carve book boxes quite a bit but haven't in a few years since they're time consuming. I only use unwanted books. I mod podge the sides then carve out the centre with an exacto-knife. I draw a design on paper then transfer it to the book with graphite and paint it. This one is inspired from the Norse Pagan God Loki. The painting depicted is the mythology tale of the Binding of Loki. To make it brief, Loki was punished and bound by the others, hung by chains. A venomous serpent was hung directly above his face, constantly dripping poison onto his skin. His loyal wife, Sigyn, stayed loyally by his side, holding a bowl to catch the falling venom from reaching him. However when she stepped away to empty the bowl when full, he'd writhe in pain. This is what the Vikings believed caused earthquakes. Most people know of mythology but I feel this is a lesser known story. And I resonated with the devotion of this tale.
