Privacy Policy for BreakLoop
Effective Date: 7/3/2026
1. Introduction
BreakLoop ("the App") is a focus and digital wellbeing tool designed to help you block distracting apps and websites. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our App. We take your privacy seriously and have designed BreakLoop to operate entirely offline with no data collection or sharing.
By using BreakLoop, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
BreakLoop does not collect, transmit, or share any personal or sensitive user data. The App functions completely offline and does not have a backend server. Specifically:
No Account Information: You do not need to create an account or provide any personal details (name, email, phone number, etc.) to use the App.
No Location Data: We do not access your approximate or precise location.
No Usage Analytics: We do not use any analytics SDKs (like Google Analytics or Firebase) to track how you interact with the App.
No Crash Reports: We do not collect crash logs or diagnostic information. Any crashes are handled by your device’s operating system and are not sent to us.
No Device Identifiers: We do not collect device IDs (such as Android ID, IMEI, or advertising ID).
No Browsing History: While the App uses the Accessibility Service to detect website URLs for blocking purposes, this information is processed in real time only on your device and is never transmitted off your device or stored.
No Photos or Media: If you choose to set a custom image from your gallery as your overlay, that image remains solely on your device. It is not uploaded to any server or shared with any third party.
No App List Sharing: The list of installed apps is accessed locally to allow you to select which apps to block. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.
3. Permissions Used
BreakLoop requires certain permissions to provide its core functionality. These permissions are used only locally and do not result in data leaving your device:
Usage Access: This permission allows the App to detect when you open a blocked app so it can immediately redirect you to the home screen. The data (which app is in the foreground) is processed in real time and not stored or transmitted.
Accessibility Service: This permission is used to detect website URLs within browsers (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) in order to block distracting sites. The URLs are read and compared against your block list locally; they are never sent off your device.
Display over other apps: This permission enables the App to show the full‑screen overlay (your custom image or message) when a blocked app or website is detected. No data is collected or shared through this overlay.
Internet Permission (android.permission.INTERNET): The App includes this permission solely to allow the url_launcher package to open links in your device’s browser (for example, if you tap a link within the App). The App itself does not make any network requests, send data, or track your browsing. The browser you use handles all internet activity independently.
4. Third-Party Services
BreakLoop does not integrate any third‑party SDKs that collect or transmit data (such as advertising, analytics, or crash reporting SDKs). The App is built using Flutter and relies on the following packages, all of which operate locally:
shared_preferences – stores your settings (blocked apps, PIN, overlay preferences) locally on your device.
device_apps – reads the list of installed apps to present to you for blocking; no data leaves the device.
image_picker – allows you to select an image from your gallery; the image is only used locally.
permission_handler – handles permission requests; no data collected.
path_provider – provides local file paths; no data transmitted.
flutter_colorpicker, introduction_screen, showcaseview – UI libraries; no data collection.
url_launcher – opens URLs in the system browser; the App does not track or transmit any information about the URLs you open.
cupertino_icons, flutter_launcher_icons, flutter_native_splash – purely visual/build tools; no data collection.
5. Data Security
Since no user data is collected or transmitted, there is no risk of your data being exposed through our systems. All your settings (blocked apps, PIN, overlay preferences) are stored locally on your device using Android’s secure storage mechanisms. The PIN you set is never sent to us or any server.
6. Children's Privacy
BreakLoop is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information (which we do not collect), please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
