Team UP Wins First Wheelchair T-20 Match After Covid

Captain Anmol Vashisht Somjeet Singh led the Uttar Pradesh Wheelchair Cricket team won the Wheelchair T-20 cricket match against Madhya Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh team made it look like a cakewalk by overtaking the Madhya Pradesh team by 9 wickets.


Uttar Pradesh won the toss and chose to bowl first, making it M.P team to Batting. They made 146 runs in 20 overs.


The Uttar Pradesh team achieved the target and won the match by losing just one wicket. Uttar Pradesh team batsman Aakar scored 90 (not out) whereas Shailesh made 25 runs. Shailesh’s wicket was taken by Raja Babu. Uttar Pradesh bowler Saurav and Anmol took 3-3 wickets each.


Madhya Pradesh’s batsman Raja Babu was awarded as the ‘Man of the Match based on his spectacular performance in the match. He scored 62 runs in 21 balls with nine sixes and two fours. He made the fastest half-century and took one wicket.


Most of the players in both teams are also a part of the Indian Wheelchair Cricket team that comes under the Wheelchair Cricket India Association.

Indian Wheelchair Cricket team has played both domestic as well as international games playing against Nepal, Bangladesh and many more.


Somjeet Singh Captain Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team says, “The experience was really good. I did not get a chance to bat for the first time in my life. It was a well prepared and organised event, all the accessibility issues were taken care of. The first time I played so freely and it was a good match after six tough months for me. I was experiencing a lot of emotions. “Mazze aaya khelne Mai.”


The Uttar Pradesh vs. Madhya Pradesh Wheelchair T-20 cricket was organised at Ingraham English Medium School. The match was conducted by the Neev Shakti organisation. Minister of State of Government of Uttar Pradesh Atul Garg also attended the event.
