I had the opportunity to be the student director for the show "How To Get Away With a Murder Mystery". The show was fairly new, and this was the first time it had been performed in the state of Utah. The first performances I directed were part of the Crimson Cliffs High School One-Act performances and did 3 nights of performances. After those performances, my show was chosen by the school theater director to represent CCHS at the UHSAA Region 9 One Act competition. This competition included 6 high schools from the region. The show finished the competition in 3rd place overall, and qualified for the state theater competition. I was also selected as the Outstanding Student Director for the region competition. At the state competition, the show came in 6th place overall out of 15 shows in our classification.
I had the amazing opportunity to be the director for Encores week long Encanto summer camp. There ended being over 70 kids involved, which we had to split between two casts. We had 3 hour rehearsals for 5 days, then put on a short performance for the parents. As the director I oversaw all of the casting, script writing, lighting and the production staff. I was able to learn so how much about what it takes to direct a show! And those kids were so awesome! I was so proud of them and what the accomplished. This quick video was at the end of the performance when we were able to congratulate each other!
