Art Portfolio

A collection of my art

"The Door Army" - 2023

3D Software

I made this artwork the same day I put it in the portfolio. I believe it accurately depicts the kind of art I like to create, so it's earnt a position at the very top.

"Doors" - 2023

3D Software

This artwork was made in a very short amount of time, initially spawning from my boredom. I liked the way it looked in the end, so I decided to render it despite the lack of effort it took to create.

"Untitled Tentacle" - 2021

3D Software

I made this model while learning how to use different brushes in Blender's sculpting mode

(Blender is the 3D software I use)

"Strange Jellies" - 2021

3D Software

I made this render to learn more about global illumination, HDRI's (lighting using 360 images) and transparent textures. This is also one of my first 'Cycles' renders. (Blender's integrated path-tracing rendering engine)

A collection of colouring-in page drafts for the Launceston Tramway Museum - 2022

"Automaton" 3D character rig test render - 2022

This model was a big part of my year 11 term 1 project, where I made concept work for a videogame. This was a 3D model I developed for the main antagonist, an old robot based off of automaton from the late 1700's.

This was also my first time rigging a rigid character using inverse kinematics.

A collection of sketches as I learnt to better my anatomy and poses - 2023

"God Box" - 2022

3D Software

This artwork taught me how to add texture to transparent objects, and played around with multiple sources of light to create a magical sort of atmosphere. This was also my first time creating floating dust particles in the software.

"Root Problem" - 2022

3D Software

I wanted to learn how to take flat images, cut them up and paste them onto 3D objects to create the illusion of a photorealistic 3D environment.

This render uses a single image of my back yard, facing the back side of my house. I then duplicated the model many times to create a world full of buildings and strange tentacles.

"Sickles" - 2023

During my last year at LBPS, I wanted to do something special for Halloween. I decided to put my skills in 3D software to good use and make a pair of sickles inspired by "Puss In Boots: The Last Wish". These would be props for my Grim Reaper costume.

They turned out a bit rough due to time constraints, but I still love the end result.

"Marauder" - 2023

3D Software

This character was meant to be an IK rig test, but after texturing him myself using a pixel art painting program and using some low-poly modelling techniques to give him character, he became my favourite character and 3D model of mine.

I'm yet to use him in a complete render.

"Concrete Pawns" - 2022

3D Software

This piece was never finished. The render you're viewing is actually a screenshot of the live-rendered viewport window  in Blender.

It was mostly just made to play around with atmospherics, focal length and texture mapping.

"Dream-o-Vision" - 2023

3D Software

My first full video artwork. I'd made and rendered animated artworks before, but never released them to the public as they were very short and low effort/low quality.

This piece was made because I wanted to learn how to add an animated texture onto a 3D object.

"It came from the pantry" - 2022

3D Software

Another render using a single image as its textures. I took a photo of my pantry door, which is next to a long hallway, and used the image to create a distorted and dark version of my house. Where the kitchen used to be now stands a maze of hallways and doors, any of which could be holding monsters on the other side.

"Strange Hallway" - 2022

3D Software

Based off of the internet phenomenon "the Backrooms", this render depicts a physics-defying liminal space. I wanted to make a creepy image depicting that of liminal space horror. This render was the result of me playing around with lighting and post-processing, to make it look like a photo taken on an old camera by an amateur photographer.

Rough renders, incomplete models and in-software screenshots - 2021/2022/2023

"Cell-Shaded Chair" - 2023

3D Software

A small test of shader nodes to create a cell-shading effect in Blender. I began playing around with cell shading after creating some graphics for my year 12 yearbook using online tutorials.

I was happy with the result despite the small amount of time it took to make.

Reference sketches and concepts - 2021/2022

2022 Term 4 3D Animated Video Profile

Launceston Big Picture School

A video describing my year 11 experience at LBPS. Every student must create a video profile, and I wanted to incorporate 3D art into my video. The result was horribly compressed for some reason, but I don't really mind. It gives it a specific feel, I think. A personality.
