Gregg Szcezsny
Bass, Vocals
Gregg was first inspired to become a musician in the 7th grade after seeing a live rock band perform at a neighborhood block party. He soon began learning both the guitar and bass. When Gregg entered high school he found that it was the bass guitar that opened up opportunities for him to play in bands. At one point he played in 3 different bands at the same time. One was a 7-piece horn band named Night Trance where Gregg first played the music of Chicago. Later Gregg focused on performing and recording original music playing guitar for a 6-piece R&B/Funk/Rock band Colour Huemanity. At that time he also recorded his own music playing all the instruments. Gregg went back to performing live music with a variety of bands playing both guitar and bass. These included; Big Steps, a 6-piece Motown band. Tara, a Santana inspired latin rock band. And an acoustic trio named The Spleens. Gregg joined Brass on Fire in the fall of 2022. He loves the big sound of the band, the talent and versatility of its members, and the energy of their music.
Tim Noonan
Drums
Tim's musical journey began on the morning of his 9th Christmas when he found a set of drums lovingly set up next to the Christmas tree. Years of private lessons and school band programs followed, culminating in a music degree from Illinois State University. With degree in hand Tim returned from central Illinois and became very involved in the Chicagoland music scene. His experiences include recording and performing with the hard rock/metal band Leviathan’s Choir, performing on a semi-regular basis with jazz pianist Roger Pauly, sitting in with his combo The RJR Express, and doing countless “hired gun” gigs for local rock and country bands. In addition to performing Tim has established himself as a highly recommended private instructor, mentoring young percussionists of all ages. Despite all those bands and gigs Tim's lifelong dream has been to play in a high-powered, horn-driven, rock band. That dream came true when he joined Brass on Fire. So, when you come to a BoF gig and see a huge smile on Tim’s face you know why.
