BRally Taskforce

WHAT IS BRally:

BRally is a "Sailing in Company"  event in Brazil that promotes the inclusion of the Brazilian coast into the Circumnavigator´s routes.

BRally is on the entire Brazilian coast.

BRally starts every year around May, in Ubatuba, and goes North on the East Coast, than North Coast West bound, till Soure, than into the Amazon rivers region, around the Marajó Island.

BRally´s agenda is planned taking in consideration the time Circumnavigators generally arrive in Brazil, and includes many nautical sailing and cultural events throughout the Brazilian coast.

These events are being organized to receive BRally vessels, and, thus far, the agenda includes:

May, Ubatuba, Ilhabela

June, Angra Bay

July, RJ, Buzios, Vitoria

August, Bahia

September, Recife, Noronha

October, North Coast

November BRally Amazon.

We are working on BRally BTS in Bahia on August, including Aratu-Maragogipe.

Regatta Abrolhos-Caravelas (July).

Regatta Aratu-Maragogipe (August).

Regatta Recife-Noronha - Refeno (September). https://www.refeno.com.br/

BRally Amazon is specifically the Amazon portion of BRally, starts in November in Soure, Marajó Island.

Other events are being developed to be included on BRally.

There are no cost to participate on BRally.  Some local events along the way have their own registrations and fees. Their sites are in Portuguese but easy to read in other languages using the Google Translator.

So, easier places to bring relatives on board would be Ubatuba, Angra Bay, and Salvador, Bahia. Also, better anchorages...

The more and more SVs come to BRazil, the more regional events will be created...

Boats will sail together on a fleet, between the diferent regions along the way. Boats will spend roughly a month on each one of these regions. Angra and Todos os Santos Bays would be the best exploring places along the way, for the more protected anchorages...

Each region will promote local anchorages and events, where crew can enjoy these anchorages together...

Most regions will have a marina/peer to be used for the elders and to provision...

In general, distance between anchorages will be from a couple of hours to a 1 to 2 days sailing...

Smaller regions will allow for a few days more on each Anchorage. Others, will promote more moving around. Generally, moving North most of the time, until the North Cost going West, that will have a bit longer way between anchorages...

Phone/Internet:

To get a phone card/internet, you need a CPF (Brazilian Foreign ID). Get yours online at :  https://www.gov.br/mre/pt-br/consulado-toronto/servicos-consulares/cpf-for-foreigners

Diesel:

There a few types of diesel in BR. Important to notice that the Diesel Verana, if mixed with the other types, tend to form wax on the tanques, so that is not recomended. Use S500, S10, Maritimo...

The Covid TaskForce was transferred to the BRally organization,  so all local/regional volunteers remains the same.

Objectives of BRally and Task Force:

"To Include the Brazilian Coast into the Circumnavigator´s routes" is our main objective.

Our additional objectives are:

WHAT WE NEED:

FROM SAILORS:

We need the name,  citizenship and flag of the captain and boat, their direct contact, and the location where they are in Brazil, or on their way to Brazil. They can use the Form in Register on this site to enter their information.

FROM VOLUNTEERS:

We need regional volunteers to locate foreign sailboats in their regions, request information about the boat and captain, and send us or register in the Register on BRally on this site, so we can analyze how we can help.

FROM THE AUTHORITIES:

We need the authorities to become aware of the needs we are raising and to consider how to revise laws and procedures to alleviate difficulties that may being promoted by them.

Registration of Foreign Sailors, in or on the way to the Brazilian territory:

Through the registrations on this site, or emails received by our group, or information from our regional volunteers, or information from foreign Associations whose sailor is a member, we are creating a list of all foreign sailors, by regions of the national territory, with the possible needs that may be going on, be it length of stay, provisioning, medical support, mechanical support, whatever, and we work as an interface between local and federal authorities, when necessary, to facilitate the solution of these needs, as much as possible.

Aid to foreign sailors and Brazilian authorities:

We are positioning ourselves with the Brazilian authorities, as an exchange between these authorities and foreign sailors already in Brazilian territory, registered or not, or on the way to Brazilian territory. Our goal is to register these sailors, to help them obtain provisioning, and also with their documentation, registration and stay in the country.
