The 2025 Brainy Travel Award provides $500 in support to undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Psychology who are presenting research at a national conference. The award is designed to help students share their findings, gain professional experience, and represent the University of Memphis on a national stage.
The application is due October 10, 2025 by 11:59pm.
Eligibility
Student applicants must be:
Presenting findings from a Psychology or Behavioral Neuroscience lab at the University of Memphis at a national research conference.
Enrolled as undergraduate students majoring or minoring in Psychology at the University of Memphis at the time of the presentation.
Traveling between September 1, 2025, and May 1, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants will complete an online application form that includes:
Basic student and travel information
Title of the abstract (or anticipated title if not yet submitted)
List of authors on the presentation and the student’s authorship position
An itemized budget
A list of other funding sources applied for
A personal statement (300–400 words) describing the conference, how presenting will benefit academic and professional development, and how the student will engage with the conference
Faculty mentors will complete a separate Faculty Endorsement Form that asks for:
A description of the student’s role in the research project
A brief explanation of how attending the conference will benefit the student’s academic and professional development
A confirmation of support in preparing the student to deliver a strong presentation
