About Carrie

Hello! Welcome to my tutoring website using the Brain Friendly Reading Program. My name is Carrie. I have two beautiful children, who are fun and creative and keep me on my toes. My son picked up reading quickly and hasn't looked back, but my daughter had a hard time learning to read in the regular structure of public education. She was missing the basic foundational reading skills to grow her independent reading level. I was looking online for some suggested reading programs that use a more multi modal reading approach where you play games and make learning fun. I ran across the Brain Friendly Reading program in an online, parent support group and have loved this approach to reading and the concepts and techniques have stuck. My hope is to help teach children to love reading instead of crying from frustration because they have not been given the correct teaching techniques and strategies that allow them to experience success. 

I have a master's degree in education, specializing in Special Education from Fairmont State University and have a Literacy Specialist Certification from Marshall University. I am also a Certified Brain Friendly Reading Instructor and have been a Special Education teacher for 10 years. Please book a tutoring session on the home page.
