Prof. Twila Tarkif is an experienced researcher and educator with over 25 years in higher education, specializing in multinational brain and behavioral studies, team leadership, and student development. She has led cross‑national and cross‑linguistic projects, advanced educational technology, and published extensively in both quantitative and qualitative domains. Multilingual and analytically minded, she also brings unique expertise as a certified Maine Guide and sea kayaking instructor, introducing learners to nature and cultural environments through outdoor education.
Associate Professor Atiqah Azhari is an award-winning relational neuroscientist at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), where she serves as Head of the Doctor of Philosophy Programme and Head of the Research Cluster in the School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences. She leads The Relational Brain Lab, where her team develops evidence-based interventions, behavioural intelligence platforms and technologies to strengthen adaptive coping, resilient relationships and collaborative performance across families, education, workplaces and communities.
Assistant Professor Wei-Peng Teo is a Deputy Centre Director, Science of Learning in Education Centre. Prof Teo’s research focuses on understanding the neuroscience of movement and neuromuscular adaptations to strength training, with a special interest in the use of strength and resistance training in special populations. He has been an NSCA member and CSCS holder since 2008. He currently heads the Motor Behaviour Laboratory and is the Assistant Director for the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC) at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University.
Dr. Alicia is currently an Assistant Professor at Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) Academic Group at National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Alicia studied exercise and sports science and majored in psychology at Deakin University, Australia. She went on to obtain her PhD in exercise neurophysiology from Deakin University in 2016. Following her PhD, she worked as a senior research officer at Australian Catholic University and honorary research fellow at the Centre for Medical Research (Royal Melbourne Hospital), University of Melbourne. Alicia moved to Singapore joining the Centre for Research and Development in Learning (CRADLE) and Clinical Brain Laboratory at NTU in 2018. As an Assistant Professor PESS, her current research focuses on the role of exercise to optimise brain health. Alicia's research employs neurophysiological techniques such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS) and functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) to study the functional brain adaptations (neuroplasticity) that underpin motor and cognitive performance following a variety of interventions. She is interested in the application of these techniques to examine how modifiable health-related lifestyle characteristics impact neuroplasticity and associated behavioural outcomes. Alicia is also interested in the application of neuroscience research to learning and education.
Dr. Makoto Miyakoshi is an EEG researcher at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. With a PhD in experimental psychology and postdoctoral training in MRI and EEG signal processing, he specializes in EEG (pre)processing, particularly approaches using independent component analysis. Formerly at UCSD’s Swartz Center for Computational Neuroscience for 11 years, he is also an experienced coder. In neuroscience, he has recently published a hyper-extralemniscal model of Fragile X Syndrome.

Dr. Sun Yu obtained his Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2005; Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2012 and dual-Ph.D. degree in Electronic, Electrical, and System Engineering from Loughborough University in 2011. From Sep. 2012 to May 2017, he was initially Post-doc Research Fellow and later Senior Research Fellow at Life Science Institute of National University of Singapore. Since Nov. 2017, he have joined in Department of Biomedical Engineering, Zhejiang University as Professor under 'Hundred Talent Program' and Ph.D. supervisor. The main research focus and expertise of Dr. Sun is Neural Engineering, with particular interest in "Multimodal Brain Network and Its Application". Through developing nascent neuroengineering methods to characterize brain function and structure, Dr. Sun aim to provide novel insights for understanding the neural mechanisms of brain cognitive functions (e.g., mental fatigue, workload, brain machine interface) and the pathogenesis of various brain diseases (e.g., Schizophrenia, AD).
Dr. Lu currently works as Assistant Professor and Core Member of Neuromodulation Lab and Dementia Research Unit at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. She is also the Co-Director of the Centre for Neuromodulation and Rehabilitation at the Affiliated Brain Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University. Dr. Lu’s research interests focusing on the development of personalized imaging phenotypes (e.g., brain age model), and using image-guided non-invasive brain stimulation to decode complex cognitive functions and treat brain disorders. From 2018, Dr. Lu initiated LANDSCAPE project (http://thebrainx.com/landscape/) to investigate how MRI-based geometric features impact on the electric fields induced by brain stimulation (e.g., TMS, tDCS, tACS) through computational simulation. Dr. LU has published more than 40 SCI papers as first and corresponding author, including JNNP, J Neuroeng Rehabil, JAD. Studies from her lab wined the Healthy Longevity Catalyst Awards (2023). Results from her studies have received the Best Presentation Prize awarded by International Conference of Alzheimer's Disease, Gold Prize awarded by the Committees of the 17th Asian Oceanian Congress of Neurology, Young Education Scholarship (YES) awarded by the Organizing Committees of the 19th Asian Oceanian Congress of Radiology and Fellowships awarded by the Japan Radiology Society (JRS).
Dr Cyrus Ho is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is also a Senior Consultant psychiatrist at the National University Hospital, managing psychiatric conditions across the age continuum from adolescence to old age. He is interested in interfacing between medicine and psychiatry, complex mood disorders, neuropsychiatry and public mental health.
Zhang Zhiguo, Ph.D., is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Intelligent Science and Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen). He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Hong Kong and previously served as an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. His research focuses on brain-computer interfaces, affective computing, and brain-like intelligence. He has led over 30 research projects, including four funded by NSFC, and has published more than 200 papers in IEEE Transactions and top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, ACL, and AAAI. Research collaborations and applications from outstanding students in the fields of brain-computer interfaces, brain-inspired computing, and medical artificial.
Dr. Tan utilises neurophysiological and eye-tracking methods to examine neurophysiological differences in language development across infancy, childhood and adulthood. She is also interested in understanding neurophysiological synchrony between interacting partners in collaborative interactions, and utilising various methods concurrently (e.g., EEG, fNIRS, eye-tracking) to examine mechanisms underlying learning during interactions.
