BrainConnects 2022

We are a global group of researchers with a special interest in developing & applying advances in neuroimaging, neuro- and cognitive sciences and engineering technology to enhance the cognitive and mental well-being of the aged. We are scientists, clinicians and engineers with diverse expertise in neuroimaging, clinical aging, cognitive psychology & psychiatry, robotics, biomedical engineering and computer science.

In 2022, we will hold our 9th annual symposium - BrainConnects. We seek to establish global collaborations in ageing research that leverage our complementary and trans-disciplinary expertise to create novel and high impact innovations that improve the quality of life of our ageing population.

We especially welcome the bold ideas and energy of early career researchers. We aspire towards a culture of design-thinking and hacking.

2022 Symposium Theme

Emotional Brain and Cognitive Brain

Dear participants!

Thank you for attending BrainConnects2022. The meeting finished successfully.

Looking forward to seeing you in BrainConnects2023 in Vietnam.

Chair, Tetsuya Iidaka, Brain & Mind Research Center, Nagoya University.

Emotional and cognitive well-being are fundamental aspects of healthy aging in our modern society; however, most scientific research has been focused on cognition compared to emotivity. Social behaviors in humans are products of complex interactions among brain functions including perception, cognition, and emotion. Therefore, investigation of connectivity between regions dedicated to each of these functions can elucidate the neural correlates of social brain in healthy individuals, aged, and diseased populations. State-of-the-art neuroimaging modalities such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, diffusion tensor imaging, magnetoencephalography, neuromodulation, and among others play a critical role in such purposes. Our conference, BrainConnects2022, provides a valuable opportunity for researchers in Asian countries to present their recent work, communicate internationally via the internet, and share skills and knowledge with colleagues. This year’s conference theme sheds light on studies that investigate brain mechanisms involving functional interaction among emotion, cognition, and perception to alleviate various symptoms caused by aging and brain disorders. Investigations involving healthy human participants are also welcome. The conference will showcase recent advances in the field of neuroscience, psychiatry, neurology, neurosurgery, psychology, linguistics, engineering, and computer sciences.
