Brain-Body Interactions

An interdisciplinary workshop

Paris, March 5-7, 2024

The mind, body and world interact in many fascinating ways. Our emotions and thoughts influence bodily processes such as digestion, heart function and breathing. In turn, bodily processes such as inflammation and disease also influence brain function and contribute to psychopathologies. This conference will explore interactions between the brain, body, and cognition. The first two days will be at the Paris Brain Institute / ICM (March 5-6) will be dedicated to interdisciplinary research in cognitive neuroscience and physiology. Topics include gut-brain interactions, pain, placebo effects, and consciousness. The third day (March 7) will incorporate movement-based practice and engage movement experts in open and interdisciplinary discussions at the Town Hall (Mairie) of Paris’ 13th district (13ème arrondissement). The conference is free, but registration is mandatory.

On the evening of March 7th, we will also be presenting a neuroscience and dance discourse on Le temps et l’effort au coeur du comportement et de la santé mentale (The Time and Effort at the Heart of Behaviour and Mental Health), featuring neuroscientist David Robbe. This program will be conducted in French and in the ‘universal language’ of movement at the Mairie du 13eme.

Please register before February 15 here.
