Seminar Leadership

So far, I've co-organized several seminars at BC:

  • 2021-2022 Topology Reading Group

  • 2020-2021 Geometry/Topology/Dynamics seminar

  • 2020-2021 GIST (Getting Into Some Theorems), the BC math grad student informal seminar.

Teaching Equity

In the 2020-2021 academic year, I was a grad student participant in the NSF-funded project "Developing Exemplary Mathematics Teacher Leaders for High-Need Schools: Content, Equity, and Leadership". The goal of the project is to help facilitate mathematics teachers to develop the skills necessary to assume leadership roles in high-need schools in the Boston area.

Boston College Grad Student Association

I was vice president of the Boston College Math Grad Student Association (GSA) for the 2020-2021 academic year. I helped organize GSA meetings and activities for the graduate students, helped the incoming first-year students transition to BC, and acted as a representative of the grad student body in communications with the faculty.

Machine Learning Independent Study

In Spring Semester 2021, I led an independent study on Machine Learning for two undergraduate students at BC. This project extended far beyond the textbook: the students' primary focus was to write from scratch their own neural network to accurately predict the outcomes of NBA games. Along the way, they also gained proficiency with TensorFlow and several theoretical tools, like learning how to write a reasonably-efficient backpropagation algorithm by hand for various different activation functions.
