Troop 24 had an amazing week at Horace A. Moses Scout Reservation in western Massachusetts, where Scouts worked on merit badges, swam, gathered around campfires, climbed the tower, rode ATVs, kayaked, and played gaga ball, tetherball, and so much more. It was a week full of adventure, friendship, and memories that will last a lifetime!
On June 21, 2025, Troop 24 proudly honored Zander as our newest Eagle Scout. As Senior Patrol Leader, he led the construction of two arbors at Haverhill’s Hilldale Cemetery, creating a place of reflection for visitors while rallying fellow Scouts to help and place flags for Memorial Day. His achievement was supported by many, including his mother, Assistant Scoutmaster Jennifer Nadolski, whose dedication strengthens the entire troop. Now an adult, Zander continues to serve Troop 24 as an Assistant Scoutmaster, carrying forward the spirit of service and leadership that earned him Scouting’s highest rank.
Troop 24 is proud to celebrate our Senior Patrol Leader, Padraig Bradley, for earning his Roman Catholic religious medal. This prestigious recognition is awarded to Scouts who demonstrate a deep commitment to their faith by completing a series of requirements designed to strengthen their understanding and practice of Catholic teachings.
To earn the medal, Padraig participated in a comprehensive program that included studying Catholic doctrines, reflecting on Scripture, engaging in service projects, and growing spiritually through prayer and mentorship. This journey exemplifies dedication, discipline, and the values of Scouting.
Padraig’s accomplishment reflects not only his faith but also his leadership and commitment to living out the Scout Oath and Law. Congratulations on this significant achievement, Padraig—you inspire us all!
In October, Troop 24 volunteered at the Buttonwoods Museum in Haverhill, MA, making a big difference by tackling a mountain of fallen leaves. The Scouts worked tirelessly to rake, bag, and clear the museum’s grounds, filling dozens of bags with leaves. Their efforts saved the Buttonwoods Museum thousands of dollars in leaf pickup costs, funds that can now be used to further its mission.
The Buttonwoods Museum is a historical gem in Haverhill, showcasing the area’s rich history, including Native American artifacts, early settler life, and the city’s industrial past. By preserving the beauty of this important landmark, Troop 24 upheld the Scout Oath, demonstrating their commitment to helping others and improving their community.
Despite lots of rain, Troop 24 had an amazing time during their September campout! They worked on their Backpacking merit badge and proved that a little weather can’t stop the fun. Great job, Scouts!
In July, Troop 24 had an unforgettable week at Horace A. Moses Scout Reservation in the heart of the Berkshires. The Scouts not only completed numerous merit badges, but they also forged lasting friendships and strengthened their bond as a troop.
From the excitement of aquatic activities on Russell Pond to the challenges of outdoor adventures, our Scouts embraced every opportunity to learn, grow, and have fun. It was an amazing chance to develop new skills, face challenges head-on, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
We’re so proud of their hard work, teamwork, and Scout spirit throughout the camp. Huge thanks to the staff at Moses Scout Reservation and the Western Massachusetts Council for hosting such an incredible camp experience.
Here’s to many more adventures to come!
Advancement is a core pillar of the scouting experience, encouraging young Scouts to develop skills, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility towards their community. Through a structured system of achievements, Scouts are motivated to learn new skills, participate in community service, and undertake leadership roles. Recognizing these accomplishments is crucial, as it not only celebrates the Scouts' hard work and dedication but also inspires continued growth and commitment.
Join us in celebrating these achievements at the upcoming Court of Honor for Troop 24, scheduled for Sunday, June 9. This event is a proud occasion for our Scouts, their families, and our community, as we acknowledge the progress and successes of our young leaders. It’s a testament to their perseverance and the supportive environment fostered by the scouting community.
Eagle Scout projects are the pinnacle of a Scout's journey, embodying the spirit of leadership, community service, and personal development. These projects require Scouts to plan, manage, and lead a project that benefits their community, demonstrating their commitment to civic responsibility. Eagle Scout projects not only leave a lasting impact on communities but also on the Scouts themselves, instilling invaluable skills and a lifelong passion for service. Our Senior Patrol Leader, Zander, constructed two arbors at Haverhill's Hilldale Cemetery, which serve as a place of meditation for visitors contemplating the veterans and citizens buried here. Our Scouts came together to volunteer their time to both help Zander and take the opportunity to place flags to commemorate Memorial Day.
Troop 24 had a fantastic experience during their behind-the-scenes tour of the MBTA facility in Boston. As part of the Northern Light District's Railroading Camporee, Scouts enjoyed a train ride from Bradford Station in Haverhill and took on the role of conductors in a train simulator. They learned about different types of modern freight trains, the operations of a Class I railroad, and the technological advancements in locomotives. This visit not only educated them on the complexities of rail systems but also highlighted potential career opportunities in the rail industry, making it a memorable blend of fun and learning.
We are thrilled to announce that Luke Massaro, a dedicated sophomore at Haverhill's Whittier Tech, has achieved the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction earned by only about 6% of Scouts. For his Eagle Scout project, Luke initiated "Bags of Hope," a compassionate endeavor aimed at supporting children removed from their homes for safety reasons. Through his project, he provided these children with essential items such as new pajamas, stuffed animals, toiletries, and blankets, bringing comfort during challenging times. We are immensely proud of Luke’s commitment to making a positive impact in our community. Congratulations, Luke, on joining the ranks of elite Eagle Scouts and for your heartfelt contributions! Our troop was happy to participate in your Eagle Court of Honor.
There's nothing more exciting than welcoming a new scout! As we welcomed our new member, Sean, we're reminded of the strong tradition of Scouts BSA that they're joining. We can't wait to guide them in living the Scout Law and demonstrating its core values: being trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent friends.
Here's to new beginnings, shared adventures, and the endless possibilities of scouting!
Our troop had an amazing time at the Horace A. Moses Scout Reservation in western MA. We participated in the WHOA! We can't wait for Summer Camp 2024!
Our Scouts BSA Troop rolled up their sleeves at Hilldale Cemetery in Haverhill, MA recently. Their mission? To pick up the 474 wreaths laid down in memory of fallen service members during the National Wreaths Across America Day ceremony on Dec 16, 2023. The boys put in hard work and lots of heart, understanding the special significance of each wreath. Thanks to their efforts, the cemetery stays a respectful place for our heroes. A small act, but one that shows how much we value those who served.

Troop 24 has been part of the Sacred Hearts Parish Community for over 75 years. We are smaller than the average Scouts BSA troop, which gives us the flexibility to help the scouts develop their own unique plan to improve their skills, complete achievements and advance at a pace that is comfortable for them.
