Bradford BSA Troop 24
2020-2021 Scouting Season has started!
Last year went fast! We're planning our schedule now and are looking forward to a lot of fun!
As a community service project in August 2020, Troop 24 cleaned up a local playground.
Placing flags and cleaning gravesites.
Februray - ICE Fishing!
One fish, one football, and plenty of games.
Sacred Hearts Parish has been wonderful to the Troop and we thank them for their support.
Helping Hurricane Harvey Victims
The Troop held a car wash as a fundraiser for a fellow troop in Port Arthur, TX, affected by the hurricane.
The boys went to see the eclipse and got their own moment in the sun (so to speak).
Troop 24 Car Wash
Troop 24 is raising money for gear, camping fees, and its other great activities with a Car Wash Fundraiser, Saturday, June 17, from 9a to Noon at Sacred Hearts School in Bradford, MA.
Help support the Troop and get your car washed!
Easter Egg Hunt
Troop 24 will help the Knights of Columbus with their annual Easter Egg Hunt at Pines Recreation Center in Groveland April 15.
Second Class Rank Requirement 9a
Posted on 20 March 2016
The Boy Scouts of America has the following 2nd class requirement:
9a. Participate in a school, community, or troop program on the dangers of using drugs, alcohol, and tobacco and other practices that could be harmful to your health. Discuss your participation in the program with your family, and explain the dangers of substance addictions.
To meet this awareness requirement for Troop 24, each scout will watch with their parent the following list of specific videos and public service announcements on the Foundation for a Drug-Free World website:
In the “Real People – Real Stories” section:
The Truth About Drugs
The Truth About Marijuana
The Truth About Alcohol
The Final Word
In the “They Said/They Lied” TV Public Service Announcements section:
The Truth About Drugs
Parents are recommended to watch these ahead of time and decide if they are comfortable exposing and discussing these materials. It is a curriculum rated for ages 11 and up. Scouts should not watch these videos alone, and parents should be there to discuss and answer questions.
THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
For 100 years, The Boy Scouts of America has helped boys develop into honorable men, by building character, fostering citizenship, and promoting fitness all while having fun. Boy Scouting is available to boys that have completed the fifth grade and are at least 10, or who are 11, but not yet 18 years old.
JOINING TROOP 24
We normally meet Sundays at St. Patrick's Church in Groveland, although video conferences have been the norm in 2020. There are always plenty of adult leaders present for you to ask questions, gather information and learn about us.
SACRED HEARTS PARISH
Troop 24 has been part of the Sacred Hearts Parish Community for over 75 years. We are smaller than the average Boy Scout troop which gives us the flexibility to help the scouts develop their own unique plan to improve their skills, complete achievements and advance at a pace that is comfortable for them.
