We get involved in the things that we care about! I have worked worked on many issues, projects, and changes on the east side of Madison since moving here over 20 years ago. Listed below are some of the things that I have been truly involved in over those years. I hope to carry this kind of commitment forward now as your Alder for District 15.

Neighborhood Empowerment
Schenk Atwood Starkweather Yahara (SASY) Neighborhood Association - Board member since 2012, President from 2014-2020.
AtwoodFest - Negotiated the ownership, partnership, and rebirth of this neighborhood summer festival as president of SASY.
Summer & Winter Solstice - Supported SASY underwriting of this biannual festival; Frequent participant as a fire ward to keep it safe!
SASY Neighborhood Grant Project - Developed grant program under my SASY administration that reinvests over $10K annually in the neighborhood.
SASY- Welcomed and participated in efforts to support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within SASY as an organization.
Work for the Homeless
Homeless Services Consortium/Dane County Continuum of Care, 2019-present, President of the Board 2021.
Wide-ranging group of public and private organizations that provide housing and support services to lower income and homeless individuals and families.
Third Sector Housing member, 2018-present.
Local organizations that provide a variety of housing options.
City/County Homeless Issues Committee member, 2015.

Sustainable Housing & Public Land Development
Advocated for neighborhood density limitations, Generalized Future Land Use Plan - 2018.
Union Corners Development - Advocated as a leader among four neighborhoods for uses that scale to neighborhood size and need.
Linden Co-Housing - Negotiated with developers, City of Madison, and neighbors for this project.
Garver Feed Mill Public Request for Proposals - Led public engagement and advocacy for an open process that resulted in the Garver we have today.
Garver Point Development - Negotiated with developer and City of Madison to represent neighbor concerns about size, design, and environmental concerns.
Advocated for lower base meter costs, MG&E Rate Restructuring Plan - 2014/15.
Transportation & Traffic
Williamson St reconstruction (ca. 2010) - Successfully advocated for street redesign to calm & slow traffic.
S Fair Oaks/Atwood Intersection - Led advocacy efforts for traffic safety improvements related to Lowell School.
Convened a series of neighborhood focus groups to infuse resident into future intersection and transportation nodes.
