Our initiatives

To fulfill our mission we have developed a series of initiatives for the 2018-2019 school year. Are you passionate about diversity and inclusion? Please review our initiatives below and visit our sign-up genius to volunteer. None of this is possible without YOU!

• Menotomy Day
  • Looking for volunteers to help develop activities with a diversity and inclusion lens and join the planning committee
• Communications
  • Need help developing avenues to communicate our initiatives to the Brackett community as well as resources for parents about diversity and inclusion
• DIG e-news communications
  • On a weekly basis, help develop resources to be distributed to the Brackett community about diversity and inclusion
• Cultural Night
  • Develop ideas for a DIG table to be presented at next year's cultural night
• Math mornings
  • Collaborate with the parent leads of math mornings to see how we can add a diversity and inclusion lens to math mornings
• Organize a potluck
  • A sharing our stories themed potluck to promote community building at Brackett
• Reach out to Brackett's Rainbow Alliance
  • Support and collaborate with the Brackett Rainbow Alliance, a student group promoting acceptance of all identities
• Organize a pizza and movie night
  • Choose a movie with a theme that promotes diversity and inclusion
• Organize a parent Diversity coffee morning
• Help develop and maintain our library bulletin board
• Organize workshops for parents
  • Parent education on diversity, equity and inclusion issues
• Attend meetings for related groups including
  • Brackett School council
  • Sign up to watch or attend a school committee meeting and send us notes on what was covered especially as it related to Diversity and Inclusion
  • District School Committee subcommittee on curriculum and assessment
  • PTO
  • Diversity Task Group
