Delivery of Ready Meals in Russia
The growing demand for food from restaurants has given rise to a new business model for fast food restaurants: Доставка готовых блюд. The idea behind the new service is to make cooking easy. Customers can order jarred meals that are ready to heat up in minutes. They can choose from a wide range of restaurants' quality dishes, including Russian, Armenian, Uzbek and Indian cuisines. The jars can last up to one year.
The concept behind these companies is simple. All you need to do is sign up for an account and you can start enjoying tasty ready-made meals in no time. The company allows you to order a few dishes and save them for later. Then, you can choose the rest of the ingredients. The service also offers you the option to order only what you'd like, based on your preferences. In Moscow, delivery is free, and you can customize your meals.
The company operates eleven dark kitchens in four cities and claims to deliver up to 53,000 hot meals. The menu includes 15 dishes, but in August, it expanded to 60. As of today, 12 domestic players account for 90% of all food deliveries in Russia. The top two are X5 Group and Sbermarket. The first two companies have the most customers, but the growth in these two industries is expected to continue. It is not clear whether this expansion will lead to a more efficient, convenient and affordable delivery service.
The Performance Group has allocated $10 million to expand their online sales in Russia. The company's first two projects in Russia saw the largest growth, with 1.45 billion Russian rubles and Grow Food earning a total of 1.9 billion rubles. The company will also set up separate teams for each of these countries. The main office in Moscow will be responsible for the Russian operations. In addition to this, the group is looking to expand their service to other parts of Europe and the United Arab Emirates.
Performance Group's online store saw the largest growth among all online grocery stores in Russia in the first half of 2020. The company sold 3.2 billion rubles of food in these online stores. Its services were adapted to suit different tastes, and their menus have become more diverse. The Performance Group's menu is constantly changing, with many products launching on a daily basis. In the same way, the delivery service has been updated to meet consumer demands.
The company also launched a new delivery service that delivers restaurant-quality ready meals to Moscow residents. It is called "Restaurant from a Jar" and the service polices it through digital passes. Its jars offer beef stroganoff, rabbit sausage in broth, and a variety of other foods. Most popular jars are served in the office, but employees can also get them delivered to their homes.
