For the past two weeks, we have been working on our Classics Classics Unit, taking a deep dive into The Paper Crane by Molly Bang. Throughout our study, we explored the characters, setting, historical background, author, and themes of the story. During our theme study, we focused on what it means to be kind and generous. To bring this to life, students displayed kindness by creating cherry blossom kindness trees and showed generosity by designing menus for the magical restaurant from the book. We also practiced making our own origami and even took a virtual field trip to Japan to extend our learning.
