If you want immersive, high-fidelity music with active noise cancellation for a quiet study session, choose Bowers & Wilkins PX; if you need extended battery life and amplified clarity specifically for watching TV or listening to dialogue, choose Avantree Oasis Plus 2.
• Bowers & Wilkins PX: Offers premium acoustic performance with adaptive noise cancellation but features an on-ear design that may cause fatigue during long sessions and lacks a wireless charging dock.
• Avantree Oasis Plus 2: Delivers an impressive 50-hour playtime with a convenient wireless charging stand and boosted volume for better dialogue, though it omits active noise cancellation entirely.
• Who is this for?: The Bowers & Wilkins PX is ideal for the audiophile student seeking deep focus through isolation, while the Avantree Oasis Plus 2 suits those who prioritize all-day battery and clear voice transmission over studio-quality sound.
The Bowers & Wilkins PX is engineered for listeners who treat their audio experience as a priority, not just a background utility. Its core strength lies in its acoustic architecture, which draws from decades of design expertise to deliver what can only be described as breathtaking performance. The headphones utilize the same drive units found in the company's high-end P9 Signature models, ensuring that every note, from the deepest bass to the highest treble, is rendered with precision. The drivers are subtly angled to create a more natural stereo perspective, making the soundstage feel wider and more realistic than typical consumer headphones. If you are studying in a busy environment, the adaptive noise cancellation is a game-changer. It intelligently adjusts to your surroundings, whether you are on a plane, walking down a street, or sitting in a bustling office, ensuring that external distractions fade away so you can focus on the material at hand.
However, this level of performance comes with specific design trade-offs that matter deeply to how you use them. The PX utilizes an on-ear ear placement rather than a fully over-ear design. While the materials are premium and the build quality is robust, this means the ear cups rest directly on your ears rather than enclosing them completely. For short bursts of study or commuting, this is perfectly manageable, but for marathon sessions lasting several hours, some users might find the pressure less comfortable than a fully circumaural design. Additionally, the control scheme relies heavily on intuitive sensors and touch controls. The headphones detect when you lift an ear cup to pause music or when you set them down to enter sleep mode, eliminating the need for manual buttons. This "smart power" feature ensures a 22-hour battery life is always ready when you pick them up, but it requires you to interact with the device in a specific way to manage playback.

This product is strictly for the adult listener who values sonic fidelity above all else. If your primary goal for open ear earbuds for study is to hear the subtle nuances of classical music or complex jazz while blocking out a noisy coffee shop, the PX is the superior tool. It also supports advanced Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity with aptX-HD, allowing for hi-res streaming that preserves the integrity of the source file. However, if you are looking for a headset designed specifically for children or a casual user who wants simple button controls and maximum comfort for 8+ hours straight without any pressure on the pinna, the PX might be too specialized and potentially uncomfortable for your needs.
The Avantree Oasis Plus 2 takes a fundamentally different approach, focusing on longevity, accessibility, and convenience rather than audiophile-grade frequency response. The standout feature here is the sheer duration of its operation. With an average battery life of 50 hours, these headphones are built for endurance. You can wear them for days of continuous study or work without ever needing to plug them into a wall outlet. When the battery finally does run low, the included wireless charging stand allows you to simply place the headphones on the dock to recharge and store them simultaneously. This eliminates the hassle of finding cables or managing ports, making it incredibly easy to keep the device ready for the next session. The weight of the unit is also a significant factor; at only 200 grams, it is lighter than most over-ear headphones on the market. Combined with plush, spacious earpads and a durable adjustable headband, the design prioritizes physical comfort for extended wear, ensuring that the headphones don't become a distraction during long periods of concentration.
Where the Bowers & Wilkins PX focuses on silence, the Avantree Oasis Plus 2 focuses on clarity and volume. It features a dedicated Clear Voice Mode that actively boosts voice volumes while reducing background noise. This makes it exceptionally effective for understanding dialogue in movies, lectures, or podcasts, a feature particularly valuable for seniors or anyone with hearing sensitivities. The device is engineered to produce amplified, louder-than-average volumes, ensuring that no sound is missed. Furthermore, the inclusion of Bluetooth 5.3 provides a modern, stable connection with improved range and efficiency compared to older standards. It works seamlessly with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and TVs (provided the TV has Bluetooth capability). The design is purely functional and over-ear, offering full enclosure which naturally blocks out some ambient noise, even without active electronic cancellation.
This product is best suited for students or professionals who need a reliable, heavy-duty companion for long study marathons where recharging isn't an option. If you need crystal clear calls kids headphones for study, or if you are primarily consuming spoken word content like lectures or news, the Avantree Oasis Plus 2 excels. It is also a strong choice for anyone who finds on-ear designs uncomfortable after an hour of use. The lack of active noise cancellation is a trade-off, but the passive isolation provided by the over-ear pads combined with the ability to boost volume significantly often compensates for this in quiet environments. It is a practical, no-nonsense tool for anyone who wants to put on headphones, forget about them, and listen for two full days before worrying about power.

In my opinion, the Bowers & Wilkins PX is the smarter investment for a serious student who needs to block out distractions and immerse themselves in complex material. The active noise cancellation and high-fidelity drivers create a sanctuary for focus that the Avantree simply cannot match. However, if your study routine involves 10+ hour days where you cannot stop to charge, or if your primary content is video lectures requiring crystal clear dialogue, the Avantree Oasis Plus 2 is the more practical choice. For a dedicated study setup where sound quality and isolation are paramount, I would buy the Bowers & Wilkins PX today.
The Bowers & Wilkins PX is better for noisy environments because its adaptive active noise cancellation physically blocks out distractions, whereas the Avantree relies on passive over-ear isolation and volume boosting.
The Avantree Oasis Plus 2 lasts significantly longer with a 50-hour battery life compared to the 22-hour capacity of the Bowers & Wilkins PX, plus it includes a wireless charging dock.
Only the Bowers & Wilkins PX features active noise cancellation; the Avantree Oasis Plus 2 does not have this feature but offers a Clear Voice Mode to enhance speech clarity.
The Avantree Oasis Plus 2 is likely more comfortable for sensitive ears due to its lighter 200g weight and fully over-ear design, while the Bowers & Wilkins PX uses an on-ear style that sits on the ear cartilage.
