We are a hot air balloon LLC based in Lewisville, NC, and typically fly out of the Statesville, NC area. We are ready to take you on a ride to see the beautiful North Carolina scenery or to come to your special event.
History
Dan Gerbus, our pilot, has had a lifelong fascination with aviation. After spending over 10 years in the airlines, he moved into the aviation training field, and then found his aviation experience broadening. He began helping with a hot air balloon owned by a friend in 2012. Since then, he has gone on to obtain his commercial balloon license and is the proud owner of Bourbon Flight.
Bourbon Flight came into existence when Dan and Heather Gerbus purchased the balloon in 2022. This was their second balloon as a couple, and the debate over names for the balloon began. Several names were discussed at length, all involving references to Mardi Gras, and then as they were driving one day the idea of leaning into Bourbon Street led to Bourbon Flight (which is perfect, since our pilot is Kentucky born). As an added bonus to the balloon's name, the car that follows the balloon to pick the passengers up when they land is known as the Bourbon Chaser(s).
Bourbon Flight has visited several festivals since it first took flight with Dan Gerbus including - the Hall of Fame Festival in Canton, Ohio; the Hot Air Affair: Rising Above Cancer in Williamson, SC; Alcovets Balloon Festival in Burlington, NC; Carolina Balloon Fest in Statesville, NC; and Liberty Lift Off in Powell, Ohio. Our balloon pilot and crew are eagerly looking forward to continuing to provide great flight experiences for our passengers as well as to attend festivals and events.
