Pink Flamingos in Provence

🇬🇧  In my photo taken at the Riga Zoo, the pink flamingos have been reimagined in the most famous European place to see them — the Camargue Regional Nature Park, located in southern France in the delta of the Rhône River.

Here, salt lakes shimmer with pink water under the sun, while flocks of flamingos proudly stride along the shores. This unique wetland region is home to more than 50,000 endangered birds.

The Camargue Regional Nature Park in France was established in 1970 and recognized under UNESCO protection in 1997. It is one of only two habitats in Europe where pink flamingos breed — on lakes, lagoons, and estuaries formed where the Rhône River flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
