Circular Interior Construction through Reflection and Iteration

Studio leader: Dr Anika van Aswegen, Construction expert: Amy van der Walt

In conclusion to a year where you have explored diverse themes and addressed a multitude of challenges, taking the time to reflect on the nature of the work that has been completed is an important part of one's development as a practitioner. This quarter will specifically take stock of the work undertaken, consider important themes addressed in multiple projects, and explore the making, process and documentation, of one of your projects this year through the lens of circular construction. As a design approach, this studio will focus on reflective practices (Argyris & Schön 1974), multiple forms of making and design testing, and critical iterative design processes towards developing a technically completed project. The final project outcome will be a series of prototypes and the technical resolution that reflects the project intention, the conceptual development and the relevant project informants. The focus of the detail resolution is on the multi-scalar requirements considering interaction design as a spatial system for human-environment interface.
