Architectural Alchemy: Learning by Making

Studio Leaders: Dr Calayde Davey, Cobus Bothma & Christo van der Hoven

In conclusion to a year where you have explored diverse themes and addressed a multitude of challenges, taking the time to reflect on the nature of the work that has been completed is an important part of one's development as a practitioner. This quarter will specifically take stock of the work undertaken, consider important trends or themes addressed in multiple projects, and explore the making, process and documentation of one of your projects undertaken this year through the lens of circular construction. As a design approach, this studio will focus on reflective practices (Argyris & Schon 1974), multiple forms of making and design testing, and critical iterative design processes towards developing a technically completed project. The final project outcome will be the technical resolution that reflects the project intention, the conceptual development and the relevant project informants.
