Botany, as defined by Oxford English Dictionary is "the branch of science concerned with the study of plants". More specifically, botany defines plant anatomy structure and biological functions, and studies how plants evolve, grow, and relate to each other. Subtopics included in this research guide include:

Morphology and anatomy: the study of plant structures
Physiology: the study of plant growth and development
Ecology: the study of the interactions between plants and their environment
