Fernando and I love hosting lunches and dinners for my closest friends (his are mostly back in Spain). And without fail, dessert is always his specialty — Basque cheesecake.

The first time someone tastes it, there’s usually a brief moment of silence… followed by a soft whisper:
“This is the best cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life.”

We happily pack the leftovers for them to take home. And almost without exception, the next morning brings a message:
“Last night, my family and I finished the entire cake. Not a single crumb left.”

This went on for a year and a half. At one point, even a friend’s daughter — a professional baker — asked for Fernando’s recipe. I smiled… and politely declined.

And so, here we are — ready to share the joy of his legendary Basque cheesecake beyond our inner circle, and hopefully bring a little more happiness to many more people.
