Weldment Design-to-Fabrication Workflow with Simulation
Earl Hasz - Training Room 1
During this presentation we will follow the design-to-fabrication workflow using the tools found in SOLIDWORKS. Beginning with a 3D model, the workflow will build the weldment and prepare it for fabrication. The process will incorporate tools such as DimXpert for manufacturing-ready dimensions and GD&T. Beam analysis will be performed to validate the structural capability of the model under load. The fabrication drawings will leverage the PMI captured in the model, complete with cut lists and bill of materials. This presentation is ideal for engineers, designers, and educators interested in optimizing structural workflows and leveraging simulation and automation tools within SOLIDWORKS.
Earl Hasz is Technical Director at Visiativ Solutions Inc, focused on delivering innovative solutions across the SOLIDWORKS ecosystem. Prior to Visiativ, he spent 22 years at SOLIDWORKS and Dassault Systèmes in roles spanning product management, technical leadership, and customer success. Earl brings deep expertise in CAD, PDM, and PLM, helping engineering teams drive digital transformation and efficiency.
Cloud Services: See What You’re Missing
Jay Pinheiro/Laura Nickerson - Training Room 2
Since July 2023, all licenses are bundled with "Cloud Services". This presentation will demonstrate basic data management and collaboration on the cloud. We will see how the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform handles Data Management, Finding and Reusing Data, External Collaboration, Project Management, Working in a Collaborative Environment and perform Lifecycle and Revision Management. Along the way, we’ll see just how easy it is to interact with the 3DExperience Platform from within the SOLIDWORKS user interface.

Unlocking the Power of Custom Properties Within Your SOLIDWORKS Environment
Craig Lalumiere - Training Room 2
In this presentation, we will explore the game-changing capabilities of custom properties within your SOLIDWORKS environment. Attendees will learn how to effectively utilize custom properties across different SOLID WORKS file types, to enhance design efficiency and accuracy. We will also discuss the integration of custom properties with SOLIDWORKS PDM, and Property Tab Builder showcasing how they streamline data management and improve collaboration across teams. Join us to unlock the full capabilities of custom properties and elevate your SOLIDWORKS experience.
Craig has been a CAD Administrator for most of his career. Craig’s gateway to PDM started with implementing PDM Professional for a company in Vermont. He moved on to Applied CAD Solutions where he administers, installs, migrates, and trains SOLIDWORKS & PDM throughout North America. He has gained knowledge in many different industries including automotive, aviation, automation, robotics, industrial power, military, and medical equipment. As an advocate of continuous improvement, Craig fundamentally believes that every process can be made more efficient.
He has several SOLIDWORKS Certifications in SOLIDWORKS, PDM, and the 3D Experience Platform. He is the Northern Vermont SOLIDWORKS user group (SWUG) leader and a committee member of the PDM-SWUG.

PDM Categories Unleashed
Guy Edkins - Training Room 2
In PDM, Categories determine into which workflow a file will end up. Categories are used once and only once when the file is first added to the vault. The parameters that are defined within a category use one or more of four attributes to uniquely define it. Many PDM admins miss the subtleties of Categories because the PDM Admin guide has only a simple summary of the attributes and no real world examples of how they can be applied. As a result they miss a golden opportunity to turn Categories into a what I like to refer to as a Table of Contents for a vault. This presentation shows Admins how they can leverage Categories to provide high value across a PDM vault's definition, use, and scalability.
30 years ago, Guy founded Integral Data Management Systems, a data management consulting firm that has been specializing in SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM since both products started - 1997 and 2008 respectively. IDMS was hired by SolidWorks in 1998 to write their detailing guide, and has been a Research Partner with SolidWorks since 2003.
Sub-D Curves Realized with SolidWorks Visualize
Chris Mowatt & Andy Barnes - Training Room 3
Using XShape, designers can produce models with advanced and blended curvature never before possible with SOLIDWORKS alone. Previewing a model in XShape looks great, but nothing compares to the photorealism made possible with Visualize. Come learn the tips and tricks to quickly turn your sub-d and traditional 3D models into rendered works of art!
Chris is a Design Engineer at BOYD Corporation and separately performs contract services for 3D CAD animation and rendering. He is a SOLIDWORKS Expert and has presented dozens of times for local SWUGs and the annual World conference since getting involved in 2015.
