According to data collected from various census bureaus and administrative agencies the total number of native Serbo-Croatian speakers in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro and all over the world is around 20 million. Moreover, 955,000 people speak Serbo-Croatian as a second language in those areas where it is official. In Croatia,170,000 mostly Italians and Hungarians use it as a second language. Serbo-Croatian is also a second language of many Slovenians and Macedonians, especially those born during the time of Yugoslavia. Outside of the Balkans, over 7 million people speak Serbo-Croatian and Bosnian. Mostly in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden UK, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Hungary, Italy and the United States. Only in USA there is more then 1.5 million Serbians, Bosnian and Croatians.
