----- Boston's First HS Team -----
Our team is excited to participate in iGEM 2024: Competition and Grand Jamboree. We are one of very few teams from New England and one of only 10 high school teams from the United States*. Despite the US’s forehand in innovation, there are very few opportunities at the high school level for students to shine. iGEM is one of these few opportunities, an opportunity to represent our country!
iGEM Competition
The iGEM Competition is an annual, worldwide synthetic biology event aimed at undergraduate university students, as well as high school and graduate students
For 20 years, the iGEM Competition has offered students the opportunity to push the boundaries of synthetic biology by tackling everyday issues facing the world.
Multidisciplinary teams work together to design, build, test, and measure a system of their own ideas using interchangeable biological parts and standard molecular biology techniques
In 2023, over 400 teams competed worldwide from countries like China, U.S, Japan, and more*. As an example, check out MIT iGEM
Of the 400 international teams, 56 are high school teams with just 10 teams from the USA*
