Spring 2021 Showcase: Now Seeking Submissions!

“Tools for Getting Through” Community Showcase

Deadline for submissions: Saturday, May 1st 2021

Opening: early May 2021 (online and at the Tool Library)

What tools helped us get through a long pandemic year? Think broadly about your favorite "tools"— we want to see all of the ways that many things around us can be considered in this way. What are the tools that we use ourselves that can be shared with others? We are asking our members and neighbors to creatively explore this concept of tools that we can "borrow" from each other to build familiarity and resilience. Click here to view a sample submission.

All it takes is at least one photo and a brief description!

Submissions can include images of hand tools, power tools, mental tools, imagined tools, etc. Take a moment to consider your favorite tools, implements, or utensils and how they’ve helped you make it through a tumultuous time. This exhibition will take place both online and in-person with limited capacity for attendance. All submissions will be included in the archive, and selections for the exhibition will be made by our guest curator, Kirsten Olson of K. Olson Ceramics on Pomfret Street in Carlisle. Who can submit?

Anyone! You do not have to be a Tool Library Member to submit to this showcase.

All submissions must include:

1. photo documentation and/or a drawing

2. a written description of your favorite tool and its use

please note: each submission is for one tool—for additional tools, please make a separate submission. Only two submissions per person, please. Thank you for your consideration!

And, we'll accept all kinds of additional materials! Here are some examples:

-digital images (.jpg, .jpeg, or .pdf) + image descriptions

-written description of the tool, its uses, and its significance to you

-photos of work or other activities done with the tool you’re submitting

-sketches or drawings of the tool itself

-photo documentation of the people involved

-please understand, no submissions can include physical objects at this time due to covid and storage restrictions
