One of my favorite tools: a pair of hiking boots

(1) a bundle of wildflowers collected in the Colorado Rocky Mountains while wearing these hiking boots during the pandemic summer of 2020. I needed to travel across the country to move out of a house in Portland, Oregon. These shoes gave me a sense of comfort and familiarity during a time of tedious, cautious travel.

(2) the pair of hiking boots on a patch of grass outside my house in Boiling Springs, PA. There are holes in both toes, and 7 years of wear are starting to show. These boots have taken me to many places.

(3) pencil sketches made while wearing these boots on a hike in the Mojave Desert of southern California.
