I am doing some research on a pattern that would allow to display more information when scrolling up, in a desktop app environment. Similar to the band's profile page on Spotify on mobile (album cover taking up the whole width), the user could scroll up and hold from the default top position to see more information temporarily. On release, it would switch back to the default view.

I would scrap the "hold" for this idea. I would start with the "expanded" view, then on the first bit of scrolling down you zoom it out to the normal view. Then you scroll like normal. just make sure to always have the lower objects on the screen extend a bit out of the screen (as a visual cue that they can scroll), and they'll experience your new and amazing feature.

There are several questions regarding design patterns that apply to infinite scroll such as What's the design pattern at the end of infinite scroll? and also What are best mobile navigation practices for infinite scrolling pages with a deep hierarchy?

However, my question specifically applies to design patterns that help indicate where the user is currently located within an infinite scroll section of a page, which is often simply handled by the same page scroll bar. While this is a solution to the design pattern, it exists by default and isn't designed specifically to handle this issue.

There are also instances of two scroll bars on the same page, which causes some confusion with users, not the least of which exists on the mobile page views of having to manipulate two scroll bars in a very limited space.

Are there good examples of how infinite page scrolls are handles in a web or mobile application that provides clear indication of where the user is currently located and allows then to navigate the content?

Where the desktop view exists as two scroll bars with very different visual design and the 'infinite scroll' part have labels to help the users navigate. However, it is not technically an infinite scroll as the number of items (at least the end) is already known.

A feed is a section of a page that automatically loads new sections of content as the user scrolls. The sections of content in a feed are presented in article elements. So, a feed can be thought of as a dynamic list of articles that often appears to scroll infinitely.

The feature that most distinguishes feed from other ARIA patterns that support loading data as users scroll, e.g., a grid, is that a feed is a structure, not a widget. Consequently, assistive technologies with a reading mode, such as screen readers, default to reading mode when interacting with feed content. However, unlike most other WAI-ARIA structures, a feed establishes an interoperability contract between the web page and assistive technologies. The contract governs scroll interactions so that assistive technology users can read articles, jump forward and backward by article, and reliably trigger new articles to load while in reading mode.

For example, a product page on a shopping site may have a related products section that displays five products at a time. As the user scrolls, more products are requested and loaded into the DOM. While a static design might include a next button for loading five more products, a dynamic implementation that automatically loads more data as the user scrolls simplifies the user experience and reduces the inertia associated with viewing more than the first five product suggestions. But, unfortunately when web pages load content dynamically based on scroll events, it can cause usability and interoperability difficulties for users of assistive technologies.

Thank you for your interest in Harvey Byler's patterns. Harvey has been drawing his puzzle patterns for over 20 years and if you're not already familiar with his work, you'll soon see why they are so popular. His attention to detail and his artistic abilities are simply amazing. Take your time and browse all of the categories below and let me know if you have any questions. WoodcraftByScott@gmail.com

Harvey is Amish and lives in Ohio and when I'm selling the puzzles at events I take great pride in explaining to potential customers that what they're looking at was created completely without computers or lasers. The patterns are drawn by hand, and the puzzles are cut by hand using a scroll saw.

You have your scroll saw ready, you know how to choose your material, and you found a great source of patterns. Now all you need to do before you start cutting away is to find a way to adhere the pattern to your base. There are many ways to apply your scroll saw pattern, depending on the type of base you are using. Here are the best ways that we, at The Holz Brothers, would recommend.

If you have come here to learn the easiest ways, or new ways to transfer your pattern to your base, then read on. If you need help finding a pattern, or need some inspiration, try looking at our large selection of beautiful patterns. As ever, please join us on Facebook if you have any questions.

There are many types of temporary-bond adhesive glues. Some scroll sawers use the gentler options: elmers glue spray or glue sticks; others use stronger adhesives: 3M Adhesive or Loctitite. There are a variety of ways that you can attach your patterns to wood. First, you can stick it directly to the wood. Audreyobscura, community manager of Instructables, recommends following these steps to ensure best results when using just adhesive.

Temporary bond spray is a go to for many scrollers for multiple reasons. One is for it being inexpensive. With varieties to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming. A favorite of scrollers is 3M Super 77. It applies quickly, dries fast, and can easily be applied evenly when done correctly. However, if left on too long, the strength of the glue might pull up the wood fibers upon removal if the wood is too soft. It should also be used in a well-ventilated area. In order to remove it, you would need a good adhesive remover. Also, when spraying, for your safety, it is advised you use a respirator, goggles, and gloves.

Using clear packaging tape removes the need for sanding, or using adhesive remover to remove residual. Some scroll sawers place strips of tape directly on the surface, and glue the pattern onto the tape. Other scrollers layer the tape by adding an extra layer of tape on top of the paper template. It is recommended that even if you put on clear packaging tape, to use glue on the paper template as this decreases the chances of your pattern from lifting while cutting. When the paper lifts, you are more likely to cut yourself.

Some scroll sawers prefer printing patterns onto large sticky labels. This is one of the best options. All you would need to do is purchase large blank labels, and print your patterns onto them using virtually any printer.

The scroll is a valuable source of information, consisting of 114 patterns that may have been used both indirectly and directly by architects to create the tiling patterns in many mosques around the world, including the quasicrystal Girih tilings from Darb-e Imam.

The Topkap scroll is a 33 cm (13 in) wide scroll of 29.5 m (97 ft) in length, which is unrolled side to side.[1] One end of the scroll is fixed to a wooden roller, and the other end is glued to a protective leather piece.[2]

A number of parchment pieces featuring various patterns are applied on the scroll. The differences in the border of some drawings indicate that the Topkap Scroll consists of two different scrolls fixed together. The fact that it is not worn out suggests that it was not made to be used as a reference document in a craftsman's workshop, but rather than as an exhibition work in the palace. It was probably a record of tiling works carried out in the palace.[3]

The scroll was made by one person only. Most of the patterns were drawn on two pieces of parchment that were put together, and then pasted on the scroll. The placement of the patterns on the scroll is somewhat disorganized. Patterns of similar themes are fallen apart, and some patterns formed on two parchment pieces are combined imperfectly.[3]

The muqarnas on the scroll, which are mostly in the form of a hand-held fan, reflect the architectural style of the Timurid dynasty, Turkmen people in Iran and Central Asia. In contrast, the muqarnas in Cairo are in the form of seashell.

The scroll consists of 114 geometric patterns drawn in ink and dye. It displays decorative ornaments found on the walls and domes of structures built between the 10th and 16th century in the Timurid dynasty. It was a guidebook for architectural designs seen in complex muqarnas, girih, mosaic panels and colorful tiles. The scroll does not mention how those patterns are constructed, and has no date or signature.[2] be457b7860
