LIVING TRADITION
This image captures the expressive power of Huancavelica’s living traditions through the iconic figure of a Siseurs dancer. With fluid, dynamic movement and the vibrant colors and textures of traditional attire, the dancer becomes a vessel of memory and popular creativity.
His posture evokes the spiritual and collective strength of this ritual practice, where the body itself becomes a language. The composition forms an allegory of continuity between past and present, showing tradition not as something fixed, but as a vibrant, evolving cultural force.
LUQU. We took the scissor dancer's cap (LUQU) as a reference, which in many ways epitomizes these conditions of living culture: the color, the free-hanging ribbons, and at the same time, the cap itself, as an object, is a protective element. Therefore, we took its main characteristics and incorporated them into the project. We also assumed that the site would be used for recreation by the entire population of Huacavelica.
The spaces of a public and active nature take on a dynamic form as a cover, being placed on the ground in a fluid and natural way, the spaces are vibrant and with cultural identity.
On the hillside, the lodging is located — its form and materials respond to the need for integration with the background: the hill (APU).
On the city-facing side, the more dynamic spaces are situated, where cultural interaction and functional use become more intense.
