Welcome to The Boring Poetry Contest — a unique celebration of the ordinary, the repetitive, and the wonderfully uneventful.
We invite poets, writers, and lovers of monotony to create the dullest, flattest, most gloriously boring poem imaginable. Whether it’s about waiting for the bus, folding laundry, or staring at beige walls, your mission is simple: transform everyday tedium into unforgettable literary boredom.
Because sometimes, the most unexciting moments inspire the least exciting poetry — and that’s exactly the point.
Selected winners will be invited to participate in the First Boring Poetry Festival in Jefferson City, a historic celebration of literary monotony, deliberate dullness, and the extraordinary power of uneventful verse.
The festival will bring together poets, artists, and boredom enthusiasts from around the world for readings, discussions, and profoundly unexciting cultural exchange.
This award is proudly organized in collaboration with Collective Task and Iskretiae Edizioni, supporting innovative poetic practices and the global advancement of boring literature.
The contest is open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
You may submit one original, unpublished boring poem in any format: text, video, images, audio, or other creative media.
Your work should celebrate boredom, routine or monotony.
Participation is completely free. Because disappointment should never be expensive.
Submission deadline: 11/11/2026.
The award ceremony will take place in Jefferson City, Missouri, on 02/29/2027 during the 1st Boredom Poetry Festival (BPF)
The distinguished international jury includes: Roberto Uggia (IT), Robert Fitteryawn (US), Monica de l'Aburrimiento (MX), Klaus der Uberdruss (DE), Joseph Dullplan (US), Vincenzo La Noia (IT), Sabine Ödnis (DE), Matvei Unyniyevich (RU), Kristen Greygher (IR), Rodrigo Muermo (US), Ethan Rottura (US/IT).
