Biking
All bike tours begin and end at McCarty's Cove and ride along either paved bike paths or packed gravel. Feel free to bring your own bike, no suspension needed - a helmet is required. Bicycle's can also be rented at Lakeshore Bike across the street from McCarty's Cove for $8/hour (helmet included).

Marquette city loop

Description: See Marquette's mixture of green space and urban jungle as you loop the city on this leisure tour. Start off along the lake shore and cut into town to climb up to the heritage trail. It's all down hill from there! Head back downtown to lower harbor to complete this loop. You'll learn about the history of Marquette while you wind past notable landmarks.
Presque Isle

Description: This is one of the most classic bike ride's in Marqutte. Skirt along Lake Superior before heading into the forests of Presque Isle. Stop along the way to view sandstone cliffs and Marquette's famous Black Rocks. Complete the loop around "the Island" and head back along the lake shore. Find out how the Island was formed and why Native American's called Presque Isle home.
Heritage trail west

Description: Learn about the mining heritage of Marquette county on this informative tour. Steadily climb the old railroad grade towards Negaunee while you go back in time and learn about the history of the iron range. What goes up must come down in this out and back tour.
Heritage trail east

Description: Get out of Marquette on this tour into neighboring Harvey. Head along the Lake Superior shorline and cross the beautiful Chocolay River. Pass through the quiet neighborhood of Lakewood before looping back along the M28 bike path. Cross the Chocolay River one more time and head back through Harvey to Lake Superior to complete this fun and active tour.
Mt. Marquette

Description: Our most difficult bike tour! Ride along the Lake Superior shoreline until you get to the mouth of the Carp River. Head into the forests surrounding Marquette at the east trails parking area and then climb, climb, climb! You will be rewarded with a spectacular view of the city atop Mt. Marqutte. Point out historic structures and impress your friends with your knowledge of Marquette architecture. Drop down onto the South Trails Trailhead and wind through South Marquette on your way back to Lower Harbor.
