What is Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)?
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) in the DSM-5-TR is defined as a pervasive pattern of instability in interpersonal relationships, self-image, and affects, along with marked impulsivity, beginning by early adulthood. A diagnosis requires meeting at least five of nine specific criteria, including intense fear of abandonment, identity disturbance, chronic emptiness, and self-destructive behaviors.
That said, no two people with BPD experience it in the same way. The diagnosis can present very differently depending on the individual, their background, and their circumstances. This game reflects one lived perspective, not a universal definition.
Why did you choose to focus on BPD?
BPD is a complex and often misunderstood condition that can involve significant emotional suffering. It’s also frequently misrepresented, which is something I wanted to approach with care rather than sensationalism.
I have been diagnosed with BPD since I was 17 years old. It is something I wish others would understand better. While Ruby is her own character, parts of her story come from a deeply personal place. Through her journey, I hope players can gain insight into what it might feel like to live inside a mind shaped by emotional intensity, not to judge it, but to understand it.
Is this game autobiographical?
No. Parts of the game are inspired by my personal experiences, but the story itself is fictional. I will use symbolism, fantasy, and archetypes to explore emotional truths rather than retell real events.
Is this game trying to “fix” the protagonist or BPD?
No. The game is not about curing or fixing the protagonist. It explores how different choices and coping strategies can shape outcomes, without denying the reality of ongoing mental health struggles.
Does this game represent everyone with BPD?
No. This game represents one personal perspective. BPD affects people differently, and no single story can speak for everyone’s experience.
Is this the Final Game?
No. This is just a quick and simple DEMO to please my friends and other people who have been curious about my Progress the last year or so.
Where is the Credits Page?
The Credits Page (for Plugins/Art Inspo/Music) is all located on my Website
Is there anything we should know?
