Isabela Villas Boas

With 32 years of experience in ELT, Isabela Villas Boas holds a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language from Arizona State University and a Doctorate in Education from Universidade de Brasília.

She is the Corporate Academic Manager at Casa Thomas Jefferson, Brasília. Her main academic interests are second language writing, teacher development, leadership, and assessment.

She has presented in various local, national and international ELT conferences and published articles in journals and book chapters for over twenty years. Her latest book is Teaching EFL Writing – A Practical Approach for Skills-Integrated Contexts.

She also supervises distance M.A. dissertations for the University of Birmingham and serves on the BRAZ-TESOL Advisory Council.

Jeremy Harmer

Jeremy is a writer of books in the field of English Language Teaching. These include Methodology titles, course materials, and learner literature (often called graded readers).

He is a frequent presenter, seminar leader and teacher both in the UK and, more frequently, around the world.

He holds a BA in English Literature from the University Of East Anglia, UK and a Masters in Applied Linguistics from the University of Reading (UK).

As a teacher and trainer in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT) he has worked for International House, London, Eurocentre Bournemouth, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, the Bell School, Cambridge, and at the Anglo Foundation (in Mexico DF, Ciudad Satellite and Guadalajara – where he was branch director for four years.

Currently he works as an online tutor for the MATESOL at The New School, New York.

Jeremy is also a singer/songwriter and a performer of the spoken word.

LUCY CRICHTON

Graduated in Classical Theatre, Art, Design and TEFL, Lucy is a teacher, trainer and storyteller who has given lectures and workshops in Latin America and Europe.

She is the author of primary books and components for publishing companies in Brazil, Argentina, the UK, and the USA.

Lucy is the founder of The Secret Garden English School in Florianópolis, where she teaches children and teenagers using, music, art, drama, gardening and cooking.

She has been living and teaching in Brazil since 1992.

Luiz Otávio Barros

Luiz Otávio Barros holds an MA Hons in Applied Linguistics, from Lancaster University and has been teaching, training teachers, designing language courses and writing ELT materials since 1992.

Formerly academic coordinator at Cultura Inglesa São Paulo, where he was responsible for the advanced levels, as well as COTE, DOTE and DELTA tuition, head of research and development at Associação Alumni São Paulo, where he was in charge of the adult segment, and BRAZ-TESOL’s second vice president, Luiz Otávio is co-author of Richmond’s English ID, Identities and the new Young Adult course Personal Best, as well as series editor of Access, published by Richmond Brazil.

He has also self-published The Only Academic Phrasebook You’ll Ever Need, available on Amazon.
