Go to the Control Panel app and go to Hardware and Sound -> Power Options. Now find the power option that you're currently using, then click the Change plan settings button next to that power option. In the windows that appear, click on Change advanced power settings. Now in the small windows find sleep, Hibernate after option (you needs to expand them). Now change both value to 0 and it will turn to never. Finally click Apply to save changes and you're done.

This solution doesn't seem to work when booting from the bootcamp created USB. I managed to make it work by buying a USB SuperDrive and booting from the Windows disk (not EFI). Worked like magic after that. Also quick format works too - will save you 2 hours on a 1TB disk.

I removed Bootcamp partition with Bootcamp utility - this reverts partition table to GUID. Then I go to Disk Utility and manually divide Mac OS partition in two parts to add space (not formatted) for windows installation. After that, when I rebooted with Alt-Option button, I was able to choose EFI Boot option on inserted DVD disk and successfully install Windows by create appropriate partition on space that I prepare with Disk Utility. At this point reboot with the Alt-Option button and select the Windows DVD. (Not EFI) This time when you see the partitions it will be select-able as the installation disk.During installation Windows rebooted 2 times and I use Alt-Option button just to be sure that proper disk was booted.

Tried to bootcamp windows 8 on my buddies mid 2010 imac desktop with a broken disk drive. I kept on getting the MBR GPT conflict error. i tried several times to install windows using bootcamp but eventually ditched it because it just wouldnt work.

After deleting the original bootcamp partition i used disk utility to add a new partition to the existing hd desigated as "free space," not mac os journaled or exfat. Then i restarted and booted into installing windows via the bootable flash drive i made with my macbook air.

diskpartselect disk 0select partition 5 (on my comp the bootcamp partitions number from was 5 not 4 because of the flash drive, just make sure you select the right partition...)format fs=NTFS label="Windows 8"exitexit

Refresh the window showing all the drives and it should now allow you to pick the partition you just formatted and install windows. Install any bootcamp software you may need once you boot into windows.

A side note... my buddy actually found a usb superdrive, which i used to try and install via a windows install dvd, but it would not detect the disc in the drive when the computer restarts and first boots into windows. I was going to try to figure out how to change the boot order to boot from the usb superdrive, but i was able to get it working with the bootable thumb drive.

I recently installed the Windows 10 Preview via Bootcamp on both my 2012 iMac and 2012 MBP both with Yosemite. Both installations went fine except for the MBP's screen brightness. It will only go to about 75% brightness even though it says 100% leaving me with a pretty dim screen. The bootcamp drivers seem to be working fine because I can adjust it both up and down, it just won't get as bright as it should. If any more information is needed please let me know and I will post that info. I really need this problem fixed.

I hope this helps. If anyone is having problems with Windows 10 bootcamp, I would strongly recommend installing the most up-to-date bootcamp drivers. I lost my F-key functionality after the upgrade, and reinstalling the updated drivers resolved that issue.

I've tried using both my Windows 7 ISO to create a bootable drive, and also attempted using a disc burnt using disc utility, but I keep encountering the following message with Bootcamp. My Windows 7 install disc is a mixed x32 and x64 (I would obviously choose x64 bit when running windows install later) But is displaying the following image?

I'm trying to use bootcamp on an old Mac with Lion on it. It's fine when going through the process of downloading the latest Windows support software on a USB. The issue is that the only option is to install Windows 7 [1]. I insert my Win10 disk and even mount the .iso and it still doesn't detect an installer disk. [2]. The goal is to just have a working Win10 machine. I cannot upgrade to High Sierra because the Mac is so old. Thanks!

Now, you need to ensure that virtualisation is enabled from the macOS side. Open up system settings then go to Start Up disk. Now just looking at the current setting may show that your windows partition is set as the start up disk. You need to explicitly go in and set it to windows, so unlock the padlock and click on your windows partition. The act of doing so activates other settings including enabling virtualisation. When I first encountered this issue, I could already see that my windows partition was visibile in the list of disks to selected as the startup disk and I probably thought no more of it, not realising you have to set it to windows explicitly.

After I did this then rebooted into windows, then open "Programs and Features" (run appwiz.cpl), then select "Turn windows features on or off", look at the options and ensure that "Hyper V" is not a disabled greyed out option. Select "Hyper V", then enable "Windows subsystem for linux". You should now be able to proceed with WSL2 without seeing errors pertaining to virtualisation not being enabled.

I have the latest macbook pro 16, and am considering uploading windows 10 through boot camp. Can anyone tell me if there are any implications with this when working with autoCAD and 3Ds Max etc. Will they run as efficiently as through a PC? Thanks

Thanks for getting back in contact again. As I was still within the 30 days of purchasing my Mac I have successfully managed to return it. I didn't want to risk playing around with splitting the disks and loading windows if i were going to try and return it. So back to the drawing board with which computer or laptop to buy. Its a tricky one as I am only just getting started in this field, and am wanting to change career path into kitchen/interior design. I have been a joiner for many years but am wanting to move more into the design side. I would like to take the time to learn 3D packages. Having grasped the basics of autoCAD, I have since learnt that 3DS MAX would be better for modelling and rendering interior spaces, is that correct? I eventually want to learn to create photo realistic images of my designs. Its hard to know what computer to buy as I would like something that will give me some future proofing in case I do end up needing to do quite heavy rendering. But without going too wild as I may not. Going into this a bit blind, not knowing what job I may end up getting or what packages the companies will use is hard. For now I would just like to learn the packages for personal use, and start building up a portfolio.

Im i fighting a lost battle trying to make windows packages run on a mac. I just much prefer mac to pc, as i find them much smoother and things like their tracker pad are amazingly accurate and have lots of useful additional features making workflow faster. Its also simple things like icloud that i also like am have used for years. its hard to think about transitioning to a pc, but feel it might be a better bet if i am going to start getting seriously into 3D modelling and rendering for my designs.

i have the same issue. If you need to get back to macOS, I've been using the old method. Choose to restart from windows, and as soon as you hear the mac boot "chime" hold down "alt" on the keyboard. There should be an option for your two boot volumes on your screen, just use the keyboard to move over to the macOS volume and press return. I'm no developer or computer engineer but i imagine it has something to do with the new Apple File System format that windows does't recognize, as it's a new volume format that only exists on beta Mac machines, vs the older file systems which have been around for a while.

I upgraded to high sierra from sierra via appstore on 25th. Had already got windows 10 installed on bootcamp. didnt switch to windows till today. not after starting in windows 10 cant go back to osx. Recovery option not coming , option key not showing boot option. What am i supposed to do ?

Same for me, I thought it was because it changes depending on what you os you installed last so like the right would be the last os you've installed into the partition. I'm kinda stupid and my first thought was like oh maybe it's just bootcamp needing a update to support High Sierra and the apfs but my stupid curious self decided to just oh well delete my windows partition and start over (i didn't have much besides some games and some files i didn't reallt care about). Anyways now i messed up because now it automatically boots me into windows when i open my macbook pro a1707 (2017) since i can't change it to boot into macOS from the bootcamp control panel. I hope apple updates the bootcamp asap since 10.13 isn't a beta anymore but until then i guess i'm going to delete windows again because i don't feel like holding down the option key everytime now and to answer your question my theory was wrong about it being based off the last os you install into the partition because windows was still on the left so my new theory that makes more sense is that 10.13 now boots mac hd into the right for the setting and not the left anymore, which that kind of bothering me so goodbye windows until the next update for bootcamp

I have the same problem. I can not switch from my Windows SSD back to my macOS on a different SSD. In Windows, Bootcamp does not see my macOS drive. Windows itself is recognizing the macOS drive. Is there a fix yet? The option key is not working for me on startup, because I am using a Nvidia geforce gtx 1080 (not flashed). This means I do not get a boot screen. Maybe it works, but I can not see which drive I am selecting. I did not try that yet. I just don't want to hold down the option key every time I want to switch back from windows to macOS. I am using a Mac Pro 2010 with macOS High Sierra. Thank you all in advance. be457b7860
