Welcome to teachers, parents, librarians, or anyone who is interested in reading!
Welcome to Boone-Story Reading Council!
We are a local chapter of the Iowa Reading Association that promotes literacy through teacher / community programs about reading and writing. In addition, yearly support or involvement in community projects is part of our mission. Boone-Story Reading Council meets five to six times yearly to learn more about how to share the joy and passion of reading and writing with young people. The topics bring many great ideas, discussions, and learning!
Boone-Story Reading Council sponsors a creative writing contest in which members can submit student creative writing stories or poetry. Local first place winners are celebrated in a local Young Authors event and their entries are entered into the state organization of Iowa Reading Council for the state wide contest.
Members at the local level also get a discount for the yearly Iowa Reading Conference in June. The Iowa Reading Council is affiliated with the International Literacy Association.
Meetings for 2022-23 will be a mixed format. They will be in person and also available ZOOM. Each meeting will be recorded for members to view later. Please note the time for each meeting.
Join for all or part of a meeting! Each member will receive a link prior to the meeting, additional information on the topic, and access to the recorded meeting.
