Effective date: 28.05.2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Mykyta Romanenko (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Book Translator - AI Powered mobile application and any related services (together, the “Service”).
By using the Service, you agree that your information will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Service.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the United Kingdom (“UK”), or Switzerland, please also see Sections 4 and 9 below for additional information about how we process your data and your rights.
The Service is operated by Mykyta Romanenko, an individual developer based in the United States.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, you can contact us at:
Email: smpledev@gmail.com
Subject line: “Book Translator - AI Powered – Privacy”
We collect information in three main ways:
Information you provide directly
Information collected automatically when you use the Service
Information processed for translation and subscription purposes
2.1 Information you provide directly
Depending on how you use the Service, you may provide us with:
Support or communication information.
When you contact us by email or through support channels, we may collect your name, email address, and any information you choose to include in your message.
Content you choose to import into the app.
When you import or open books or text (for example, EPUB, PDF, TXT, or similar formats) in the app, the content is generally stored on your device.
If you use offline translation only, we process the text locally on your device.
If you enable online translation or online automatic translation, relevant text fragments, such as selected words, paragraphs, pages, or automatically processed reading segments, may be sent to our servers and/or to third-party AI or translation providers as described in Section 3.
We do not ask you to create a separate BookTranslator account with login and password at this time. However, we may use app-specific identifiers or device identifiers to operate the Service and manage subscriptions.
2.2 Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, we may automatically collect certain information, such as:
Device and app information
Device model, operating system version, language, region
App version, settings, and configuration
Unique app or device identifiers (for example, an app-instance ID)
Usage data
Features you use (for example, opening a book, tapping to translate a word or paragraph, or using automatic translation)
Time spent in the app
Reading progress (e.g., current position in a book), bookmarks, and translation statistics
Basic analytics about how often features are used, so we can understand and improve the Service
Diagnostics and crash data
Crash logs, performance data, and diagnostic information to help us identify and fix issues
This information may be collected using SDKs and tools provided by Apple, Google, and/or other third-party analytics or crash-reporting services.
2.3 Information related to purchases and subscriptions
When you purchase a subscription or other paid feature:
Billing and payment are handled by Apple App Store or Google Play Store, not by us directly.
We receive limited information from the app stores, such as:
Anonymized order or transaction identifiers
Product identifiers (e.g., monthly or yearly plan)
Subscription status (active, expired, canceled, refunded, or other subscription state)
Country or region information in aggregated or non-identifying form
We do not receive your full payment card number or bank account details from the app stores.
BookTranslator supports both offline and online translation modes.
3.1 Offline translation
When you use offline translation:
Translation is performed locally on your device using offline language models (where available).
Relevant text fragments are processed and stored only on your device, unless you choose to export or share them yourself.
We do not send your text to our servers or to third-party AI or translation providers for offline translation.
3.2 Online translation
When you enable online translation or online automatic translation:
The relevant portions of your text (for example, the selected word, sentence, paragraph, page, or automatically processed reading segment used for translation) may be sent:
to our servers, and
to third-party AI or translation providers that generate a translation or other output.
These providers may temporarily store logs or metadata as necessary to operate their services, ensure quality, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable laws.
We do not sell your books, translations, or other content, and we do not allow them to be used to train models in a way that identifies you personally. However, some third-party providers may process certain data under their own terms and privacy policies when acting as independent controllers.
For more information about our use of service providers and third parties, see Section 5.
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal data:
Performance of a contract.
To provide and operate the Service, including translations, subscription features, and basic functionality you request.
Legitimate interests.
To maintain and improve the Service, prevent fraud and abuse, secure our systems, and analyze how the app is used (where these interests are not overridden by your data-protection rights).
Consent.
Where required by law (for example, for certain analytics or marketing activities), we may rely on your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time where applicable.
Compliance with legal obligations.
To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To provide and maintain the Service, including reading, translation, and library features.
To process translations, including manual translation, automatic translation, offline translation, and online translation, based on your choices.
To manage subscriptions and paid features, including determining whether you have an active subscription and what features should be available.
To improve and develop the Service, including understanding how users interact with features and fixing bugs or performance issues.
To communicate with you, including responding to your questions or support requests.
To protect the Service, including preventing fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We may share information in the following situations:
Service providers.
We work with service providers that help us operate the Service (for example, cloud hosting providers, analytics providers, crash-reporting tools, and, where applicable, AI or translation providers). These service providers are typically allowed to process your information only on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.
App stores and payment providers.
Apple and Google handle payments and subscriptions. We receive limited information about purchase status needed to manage your access to paid features.
Legal and safety.
We may disclose information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to:
comply with applicable laws or legal requests;
protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, third parties, or ourselves;
detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.
Business transfers.
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell your personal information.
We may process and store information in countries other than the country where you are located, including the United States. These countries may have data-protection laws that are different from those in your jurisdiction.
Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.
We keep your information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:
as long as you use the Service,
for as long as we have a legitimate business need (for example, to maintain access to purchased features), or
for as long as required by law (for example, to comply with tax or accounting obligations).
In general:
Content stored only on your device (for example, imported books or offline translations) is under your control and can usually be deleted by removing the file or uninstalling the app.
Logs and analytics data may be kept for a limited period and then aggregated or anonymized.
If you contact us, we may retain your messages for a reasonable time so we can respond and keep records of our communications.
At this time, we do not provide an in-app feature that automatically deletes all data associated with your use of the Service. Because we generally process pseudonymous and aggregated technical information that is not stored together with your name or email address, we may not always be able to identify and remove all records relating to a particular user.
Depending on your location, you may have certain rights over your personal information, which may be subject to limitations under applicable law. These may include:
Access.
The right to know whether we process your personal data and to request a copy.
Rectification.
The right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure.
The right to request deletion of certain personal data in specific circumstances. In particular, you may ask us to delete information you have provided directly to us (such as support communications), where this is technically and legally possible. Because we mostly process pseudonymous analytics and technical data that is not stored in a way that directly identifies you, we may not always be able to identify and delete all data relating to your use of the app.
Restriction.
The right to request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
Portability.
The right to receive certain data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and to transmit it to another controller.
Objection.
The right to object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests, in certain circumstances.
Withdrawal of consent.
Where we rely on your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
To exercise any of these rights, you can contact us at smpledev@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity and may ask for additional information before responding to your request. In some cases, legal or technical reasons may limit our ability to fully comply with your request, and we will explain this if it happens.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority if you believe our processing violates applicable law.
The Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you are under 13, you must not use the Service or provide any personal information to us.
If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 (or under a higher age threshold where required by local law) without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child, please contact us.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
You can help protect your information by:
keeping your device secure,
installing updates for your operating system and the app, and
using secure networks whenever possible.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. In some cases, we may also provide additional notice (for example, within the app).
Your continued use of the Service after the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective will mean that you accept the changes.
If you have any questions, requests, or complaints regarding this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact:
